Yeah! Most Americans do tolerate Mexicans. It's the "illegal" ones we have a problem with. If you see someone robbing a convenience store, would you call the police? If you see someone kidnapping a child from a school yard, would you call the police? So, why then, do millions of Americans stand by everyday and watch "illegal" aliens break the law? The worst offenders are the people that hire them. The people that rent houses to them. And the people that harbor them. Not only are you not reporting illegal activities, but by aiding and abetting, you are also committing a crime. What part of the word "illegal" don't you people understand? Oh, and we're not racists. We always refer to illegal aliens as "illegal aliens". Not Mexican, Korean, Guatemalan, etc. It's the pro-illegals that keep bringing up "Mexicans". So, who's the racist?

You know, there were a lot of other liberal groups that got a lot of support and had a huge sway in helping the democrats win, like the Pro-Lifers, Homosexual Marriages supporters and so on...
Illegal immigration is a big deal but no one concentrated on that because there really is no realistic solution either group has come up with to fix it.
It would have been a very bad move if both parties brought up a problem they couldn't fix.

The Democrats won because most Americans aren't thrilled with the way the Republicans have done their job. I am not bitter nor am I a racist-you are stereotyping and you are wrong. Most of us tolerate Mexicans it is the illegal ones that we have a problem with. So, get your facts straight!

If you really studied politics...and actually watched the news and read the paper once in a while you would see that not all Democrats are pro-illegal...furthermore...have you checked out exactly where these Democrats "won" their position? They are all areas heavily populated by illegal and legal immigrants of the Latino persuasion.

It's not only American citizens who can vote. There are thousands of illegal aliens from all countries who have been able to vote. And with the amount of them here, there's a definite chance that they swayed the votes in favor of their expectations. Other than that, people are letting their emotions get in the way - they're also bringing religion into this - which I really believe should not be brought into it. We are a nation of laws, and if our laws aren't being enforced, we're going to fail as a nation.
People were tired of being lied to. The Republicans tried to hide information from us and lied to us saying they were really going to change things. After a few years of bullcrap many people got fed up with it and switched over. Things are going to get MUCH WORSE for us. The Democrats are going to let everyone in.

We have about 40 million illegals in this country, no one knows the real numbers. How many that just walked into this country were in fact terrorist? You don't know. Bush has done nothing. Congress has done nothing. Bush wants a guest worker program. Republicans love illegals, they can exploit them as cheap labor. They also don't pay them any benefits. Democrats had nothing to do with the failure of Republicans.

Iraq was bigger, Bush eviscerating the Constitution was bigger, revision of free trade agreements was bigger...This year.
However, you will note that even states that elected Democrats like Colorado and Arizona also by wide majorities passed anti illegal immigration bills, in Az denying in state tuition and denying bail for illegals charged with felonies, and in Co requiring the state Attorney General to sue the federal government for failure to enforce immigration law.
Also, many of the seats picked up were with conservative Democrats who ran on being tough on immigration, such as in Ohio.
I agree that comprehensive reform of some sort looks closer, but the Democrats are fully aware that voters will hold the result to their account in 2008.

Being Democrat has nothing to do with it. I am against people who are illegally participating in programs designated to help American citizens, as everyone should be. When illegals can come here, get a work visa, and do things legally, I won't have a problem with it.

The Democrats are more conservative and they were preferred considering most of the other issues and what is needed in the states they represent. Also, there are MANY Dem's who are against illegal immigration. Remember also there are still Republicans IN the House and Senate, they just aren't the majority. The illegal immigration issue is still alive and kicking.

Personally my greatest concern is not illegal immigration but if it were I would vote for Democrats. It is not in the interest of the Republicans to prevent corporations from receiving the benefits of cheap labor. That is why they have repeatedly voted against the minimum wage increase.
