I have one that actually made it home from Iraq three weeks ago and he said that the troops just want to come home. They wouldn't mind staying and fighting if it was a real war but what is going on over there is unreal. Thats all I can tell you because they are sworn to silence.

The troops probably believe in some or most of what you're saying, but I believe if they were given the choice, they would want to come home. Those of us not serving in the military in Iraq and Afghanistan have NO idea of what our troops are going through.

we (military personnel) have no say in what tasks we are assigned to do. You make it seem like we WANT to go to war there and that we all chose Bush.
The military is a JOB, we get told to do someting by our boss (the president) and we do it! simple as that.
I would choose to send them all home. I've been volun-told to deploy in January. But my job is to work on F-15 jets and I wont be in Iraq. It's a different world and view on war in myjob verses front line soldiers or Marines who are there.
As far as ur question of what the troops there want? they want to come home obviously. and be alive when they do. they want peace and a home cooked meal, preferably with family

Let me put it this way. My brother is a Major in the US Army and he has been in Iraq for 2 months. He believes in his mission. Of course he wants to come home, he has 3 young children and a great wife, but he believes in what the U.S. is trying to do over there. Please don't try to put words in their mouths.
I am a female US Army vet and I never questioned my commanders when I was told to do something.

probably sounds bad but its the truth and from a military family person. It really doesnt matter what they think. When you sign your name on that contract you are willing to put your life on the line. This is why we are indebt to every person that has ever worn a uniform. Im tired of seeing people feeling sorry for them having to fight. Its what they are trained and payed to do. simple as that.
and why you ask them what they want ask them if anything good has come out of this. gonna be hard to find one that says no.

Hearing alot from the troops they believe americans do not support them for being in Irac { another Vietnam } ! They know if they come home another war will break out and they will be right back there... if they pull out who will defend the country from being overtaken? Good ole USA again!!!!

To win! The same thing my father wanted over in Nam, the same thing the 1st Iraq war vets wanted but the Dems said they would impeach W 41 if he didn't stop with driving Iraq out of Kuate. The same thing the solders who died over in Somalia, wanted ----- winning it is the only real goal. unless you area Murtha and don't know what it like to win a war

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the soldier,
who salutes the flag,
who serves under the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.
By Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC
Simple as that. It may seem like bs to a non military person but its what keeps the soldiers going, its called DEFENDING FREEDOM and spreading it to others.

Ask a vet. They will tell you. Our service men do not follow politics. They are kinda busy. The first order of business when they wake up each morning is how will I stay alive one more day. BTW, how do you tell a terrorist from a friendly? Just like Nam.

well it depends on the person....or as you would say...troop. some of our troops joined the military to find a job with benefits and stability, others joined to to escape the modern world and their problems, but most have joined to serve their country without question...such as i did back in 89... I went to panama and to desert storm...almost back to back, and both times I wished that i were not there but i knew i had a job to do and that my country depended on me and my fellow troops to get the job done....in desert storm we were very disappointed that we did not get to complete the job, and knew that someday we would have to come back and finish it....that time is now...if we back off, we stand to lose much more than our dignity....the safety of our children and our children's children is at stake....
