The stuffed weight of the turkey, the oven temp, and whether you cover the bird determines how long. One way is to use a temp of 325 and don't cover the bird. A 12 lb would be 4.5 hrs.; 16 lb about 5.5 hrs; 20 lb. about 7 hrs.

There are also cooking methods that involve covering with aluminum foil. This method requires less cooking time, a higher oven temp and eliminates spattering of the oven. The foil needs to be removed towards the end of cooking time so the bird will brown.

heys this is how my mom used to do it and it's never failed yet she would let the turkey sit in the sink for about a day (granted with all the wrapping still on it) and let it thaw out then the night before thanksgiving she would start the over around 11:30 at night and preheat the oven at about 350 for slow cooking and then unwrap the trukey cut off the netting and take everything out of the turkey the innards and the gravey packet and wash the turkey out good with cold water and then about 12 midnight she would take a turkey bag you can get them at any gorcery store and put maybe two-three sticks of butter in the bag with the trukey and a few seasonings whatever spice you prefer and tie the bag up and put it in either a turkey pot or a foil pan for turkey and let it cook till about 6 am and then check turn it around if needed and let it cook until about 9-10 am depends on how crispy you want it best of luck !

When you buy the turkey. It will have a little plastic popper that pops out when its done. Around 5 hours at 350. But follow the directions. And just keep an eye on the popper.

I don't know, but what I do is get a knife and cut into the skin between the drumstick and the breast(don't puncture meat) and the juice should be clear. If so, it's done! MAKE SURE TO LET THE TURKEY REST FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES covered in foil before CUTTING AND SERVING! I guarantee it'll be juicy.

If you allow 30 mins. per pound, that will get it done. But I am like a lot of the others, because I cook mine all night on a low oven. I cook mine covered, but you can take the foil off to brown it. Delicious!!

Place inside a paper grocery bag and then in a deep pan. cook for approx 21/2 hours or until the pop up says it is done. The bag holds in all the moisture and it will not catch on fire.

It depends on the size of the bird and whether or not you stuff it (stuffing the bird takes longer). Here's a website that should help:

you sound like you want a quick method soooo here it is,,,,, cook it all night long, in a 200 degree oven, leave it in over nite and baste it when you get up , then you have all kinds of time to prep the rest of your meal and it makes it less nerve racking.
