It could be that you're feeding her too much and/or she's missing something in her diet that makes her desperate to sit at the seed dish.

I would change her food dish location first. If that doesn't change her behavior, take a look at her diet. Is she eating fresh veggies? How much seed is she eating? You'll also want to take her out of the cage on a regular basis if you're not already doing that. That way she'll be more interested in playing rather than eating to solve her boredom :-) .

Good luck!

Mine perch on their food dish while eating also. I tried using a perch stick near their dish, but that got messy and I was cleaning twice as much. Try to reperch her higher up when she is done eating, otherwise the droppings after eating go into the dish. You can try removing the dish, just remember to put it back in, especially since birds have such a high metabolism, and they eat so often.

I would question your birds nutrition. It may be trying to gain a nutrient missing in the current diet. Try a lite cooked/dried mix of carrots, pea pods, a few favorite dried fruits minced finely and mixed with familiar current seeds or whatever. Also consider increasing calcium in your birds diet. Small amounts of good quality veg/fruit blends help with nutrition but must be given carefully not to cause diarrhea which leads to dehydration.

If you think that she's not getting enough exercise then seperate her water dish from her food dish....put one at one end and one at another. Additionally, do you have enough toys in her cage for her to play with ?
