She said that girls in general seemed to dislike American girls when she went out to local places to drink. She said this was because they are automatically assumed to be competition for the English men who flocked to American women.
(this is before the Iraq war) So I don't know.
Is this true or do you think she was just making it up?

You got it all wrong girl. Most Americans I have met are loud and obnoxious. That is probably why the girls didn't like her. Does she brag and boast a lot? Americans often do, and we English find it irritating and offensive.

Ohhhhh come on, it's that age old story summed up by the almost as old saying - "The grass is always greener on the other side of the hill". The attraction of... not always "opposites" of course, but at least "different" Dark-haired, dark-skinned, flashing-eyed "gentlemen from the East are drawn like moths to a candleflame, to pale-skinned, blonde women. Eastern women are magnets to the Caucasian white American male. And often it is just simply someone from a totally different culture and/or social conditioning. Ever notice how often a skinny little runt of a guy has a big fat roly-poly wife? LOL . Or a tiny little 4 ft. 6in. 95 pound woman ends up married to a 6ft.5in. 300 pound man? Examples of the attraction of extreme contrasts, are many, and are everywhere.
Then there's the case of (this one really boggled my mind) the female bank president, somewhere in the states, who fell in love with, and married a Punk Rocker with a ton of tattoos and body piercings. Talk about "the odd couple" lololol. I can't even begin to imagine what kind of chemistry has to be at work between some of these "unlikely pairings". But they are out there, and probably always will be, for as long as the human race continues being made up of "individuals, and doesn't some day become just one big "ant colony"

I'm neither British nor American but I have spent a lot of time in both countries. I don't think this is true, girls might get a little jealous of each other once in a while but I don't think nationality of the other girl matters then.

For those of you who said English girls are frigid.... I thought a recent study showed that young Brits have more sex on average than any other nationality. Not sure how they could be considered more frigid than others lol.

Both the English and the Americans make fun of each other. Americans make fun of the accent, Brits talk about Yankee this and Yankee that. In my experience they are just joking.

Yeah it's probably true: girls in England do tend to be fairly competitive when it comes to men. Men also seem to like accents, and not the same nagging drone of the typical English girl. Therefore, an American woman in amongst a loada English people will undoubtedly attract lots of positive reactions from the male side, and a few negative ones from the more "competitive" female side. Thats my opinion anyway: a lot of people would disagree, but hey!

It's like everything else in this world. People react to other people who are different to them in some way by putting up a defensive front. It's basic social discrimination. If you were a black Islamic woman in a wheelchair with an American accent you would have to everyone to look at you, but ignore you exist. That's just the way narrow minded people are. If you came from a different part of the same city they would still treat you like an outcast.
As for the guys who flocked to her, hey there's a new woman in town, whats a guy to do?? ;)

I dont think this comment is accurate. I am Scottish and English girls are slack so they are easy targets.

American girls are forward, however one would struggle to find an American girl in the UK. I have met more in Thailand than I did in London and I was on holiday in Thailand and worked for 18 months in London.

The ones I met were intelligent and cool. I am sure that not all American girls are like this the same way I know not all English girls are slack.

Scottish girls think they are better than what they are. They watch too much television. Most reality TV shows get votes mostly from Scotland.

I doubt that very much!
Not all girls scrabble for guys on a night out, American or not it makes no difference as the UK is so multi-cultural now anyway.
If an Englishman is attracted to an American woman then that's ok, us English Girls aren't threatened by this as far as I'm aware.

Hmmm, the majority of American women I have met over here have been the following:

1) Rude
2) Gobby
3) Think they know it all but in fact they know sh*t (I know this because of 2))
4) Pushy
5) Dizzy bints

Erm, there are more but I'm afraid it doesn't look good!

Maybe tell your Yankee sisters to tone it down a bit when they come over here, mmmm-kay?
