Apparantly if they don't stop and give the fish a chance to recover we will have no fish in the foreseeable future. I wonder if nations can forget profits and greed for a while and think of future generations.

I don't think we can get every nation to agree to stop fishing. Even with this report out.
The reason I say this is because there are plenty of "third world" countries that rely HEAVILY upon fish as a food source. They certainly won't stop just because of a report.
The solution to this will require a HUGE international effort and we're never very successful at those sort of things.
I think we could work to get the majority of "DEVELOPED" countries to ease up on fishing. I think that that's our best chance. It would certainly help, but it would really only delay things.
It'll help that the price of fish will sky rocket when we're close to the breaking point, but by that time it'll be too late.
The end result, in my opinion, will be that SOME "developed countries" will ease up and this will help, but most of our fish in the future will have to be farm raised (that is, not wild caught).
All in all, it's not a pretty picture, in my opinion.

Nope. "Tragedy of the commons" and our wish not to subsidize deep sea fishers to do something else for a while will ensure that deep sea fishing will not be stopped for a period.

The best we can do is to declare some areas of the ocean permanently off limits to fishing. If enough area is declared off limits, that would be another way for the fish to recover.

Never mind profits and greed -- there's stupidity at work too. Certain nations are still practicing commercial whaling of whale species that should not be hunted.
