2 Timothy 3

1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

Seems to fit the present time doesn't it?

Paul's reference to the "last days" reveals his sense of urgency. The last days began after Jesus resurrection when the Holy Spirit came upon the believers at Pentecost. The "last days" will continue until Christ's second coming. This means that we are living in the last days. So we should make the most of the time that God has given us.
Paul's descriptive list of behavior in the last days describes our society - even unfortunately the behavior of many Christians. The act or appearance of being religious includes going to church and knowing Christian doctrine. Such practices can make a person look good, but if the inner attitudes of belief, love, and worship are lacking, the outer appearance is meaningless. Paul warns us not to be deceived by people who only appear to be Christians. It may be difficult to distinguish them from true Christians at first, but their daily behavior will give them away. The characteristics described in 3 2-4 are unmistakable.

This tells what the world is like in the end times and I believe it's now. I like the King James Version of this scripture there.
I like it because it says people will be unthankful I see alot of people that are unthankful nowadays.

2 Timothy - Chapter 3

2Ti 3:1 ¶ This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

2Ti 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

2Ti 3:9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all [men], as theirs also was.

The words “last days” or comparable expressions are sometimes used in connection with the apostasy that was to be experienced within the Christian congregation. Wrote the apostle Paul to Timothy: “The inspired utterance says definitely that in later periods of time some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired utterances and teachings of demons.” (1Ti 4:1) In a later letter to Timothy, Paul again discussed this point and spoke of future “last days.” Because of the abandonment of right conduct by people then, these were to be “critical times hard to deal with” or, more literally, ‘fierce appointed times.’

After describing in detail the wayward course and perverted attitudes to prevail among persons living at that time, Paul continued: “From these arise those men who slyly work their way into households and lead as their captives weak women loaded down with sins, led by various desires, always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth.” (2Ti 3:1-7) Next Paul contrasted such corrupt persons with Timothy, who had closely followed the apostle’s teaching, and encouraged him to ‘continue in the things that he had learned and been persuaded to believe.’ It is clear that the apostle was informing Timothy well in advance about future developments among professed Christians and describing what fruitage such apostasy would finally yield.

This is nothing new and for that reason alone the scripture is not prescient (it doesn't predict the future). These are base human emotions that existed then, and they sure exist now. Have nothing to do with jerks? Sure, that's good advice. I certainly agree. I would also add, don't step off a tall cliff without a parachute. Just common sense, that's all.

All of these behaviors and actions have been occurring for thousands of years. People are not perfect and the same problems around a long time ago are around today and will be in the years to come.

It is both prophetic and poignant...an apt description of life at the beginning of the 21st century, to say the least. There could be a great awakening, however, and things could get better for awhile.

I think that means that even though people have always been that way, that in the end times it will get even worse. This accurately describes people today. Nobody knows when Christ will return, but I wouldn't be surprised if He came back in this century.

It is describing the last days before Christ comes. I guess you could say it is starting to take place now.

The same thing I think about everything else in the Bible. Pretty much worthless. But this passage it a bit more vile than most.
