I have been having stomach track pains, and the doctor had me not eat dairy for a week. I felt much better, and today I had a little cheese and sour cream on a burrito, and I am hurtin now. Could I be lactose intolerant or just have a sensitive stomach? How do you test for lactose intolerance?

I had a bagel with cream cheese this morning (i was craving it) and didn't get sick. I so don't understand my body!!
To the lactose intolerant people, do only certain dairy products aggravate your body, or all of them?
BTW I'm allergic to soy and corn so I can't have soy milk. Thanks for your answers!

I am lactose intolerant and it sounds like the same symptoms that I have. When you eat dairy it causes stomach cramps, bloating, gas, constipation, and/or diarea. You don't have to have all these symptoms, but they are the most common symptoms related.

There are things you can do. There is a lactaid pill you can take anytime you eat dairy. It helps alot. I oddly prefer the walmart brand of this pill, rather than the name brand. It's cheaper and works just as well, if not better. This medicine has no side effects.

I hope this info helps!

Lactose intolerance causes severe to mild stomach pain. It also causes the feeling of being over full and bloated. I think your doctor is on the right tract to test for lactose intolerance. Quit eating dairy and if you feel better you will have your answer. Also you can take medicine to help with the problem.

There is a test for lactose intolerance, I think it involves a blood test at the doctor's. Lactose intolerance does indeed cause stomach pain as well as diarrhea. Your doctor will probably advise you to stay off most dairy products or to take Lactaid pills.

If nothing else hurts your stomach you most likely are lactose intolerant. There are tablets that you can use so you can eat dairy. My mom's friend takes them. Ask your doctor.

you are most likely lactose intolerant. that was your test, right there. if you take 2 acidophilus in the morning and 2 in the evening for a week and then have some dairy, it will help you digest dairy less painfully. you can get it pretty much anywhere. good luck

Try mixing a teaspoon of baking soda with a cup of water. It tastes gross but it works for an upset stomach. For the future you may want to look into probiotics. I used to have the same problem. The ones in pill form really help. Activia and other yogurt versions don't have enough concentration of the good bacteria to do much if you already have stomach issues.

Well, before I venture a guess on that, I would like to have some information about how spicy/picante the burrito was. Did it have jalapenos?

But it could be. Another possibility is GERD, or gastro-esophageal reflux disease. Some foods lead to a series of physiologic events that result in the gastric contents moving up into the esophagus, whose lining is not prepared to deal with it, and it can be quite painful.

I don't really know. One of my friends was lactose intolerant and she would get really sick when she ate dairy products. It's very likely that you are, but you really should talk to your doctor about it very soon.

As stress breaks down the body weird things happen. You can say it's the milk, weather, the perfumed toilet paper, etc., but often times there is another cause like traffic, work, school, relationships, etc. Where you'll need to continue to treat for the milk problem, is where you choose not to change your environment. Bummer. That's no fun. Try it again after you feel better.
