When a Caucasian woman marries a Mexican man,why does everyone assume it's just for the green-card ?

This question is in response to several comments I've seen today.

Well,obviously I am not Caucasian and I am not Mexican. So, no, I did not do that !

I have two friends who are married to mexican males. They just so happened to be here on a two year visa and they fell madly in love and got married within a month by the JP. I always tease them still to this day and ask Fran if he got his GC yet. For me to them it's playing and they know this. From other people its sheer ignorence.

I don't assume that. Although, a good percentage of marriages do stem from people needing access to this country. I think it shows lack of respect for yourself and others. A Caucasian woman and Mexican man, as well as other races and ethnicity's do actually love each other and people are quick to judge. It's the type of society we live in and it will never change. It's a shame.

My sister married a Mexican man, we are Caucasian. They have been married for 38 years and have two grown daughters and two grandchildren. They married for love.

Because people are very ignorant and it's very common that this occurs, but that's not the only reason that they can get married. I don't automatically think that when I hear something like that.
