What has human effort produced? Have science and technology brought about a better world? "Really, of what benefit is it when man can travel to the moon but cannot solve the basic problems of the human family? Did the invention of increasingly destructive weapons, such as the atom bomb, bring an end to wars and ethnic violence? Have the accomplishments of science significantly diminished crime, family breakup, sexually transmitted diseases, immorality, illegitimate births, corruption in high places, poverty, hunger, homelessness, drug abuse, pollution?

"Science is much more healpful than religion is. Think Crusades and Spanish Inquisition and theocracy and witch hunts."
OK
"Then think about how science has proved that genetically, we're all one big family."
Then how come so many people view blacks as inferior?
"Think how it's cured countless diseases, saved so many lives."
Sure, but they can't cure everything, including death.
"And yes, I would say it's helped cause an end to hatred and violence of other kinds."
Have you really looked around? Wars are everywhere, racism has actually went up.
"For example, it's proved that being gay is not a choice. Strike against homophobia"
So you beleive actions are genetic? My genes are typing, or did I chose? How about crime? Would you kill a criminal if scientist say he is genetically a criminal?

"Science has greatly reduced the impact of disease. It has also greatly reduced the amount of time societies have to spend providing for basic needs for food, shelter, and various comforts."
One word. AFRICA
"The main thing that we can say about Science is that it brings about true knowledge of the natural world. In general, truth is a good thing."
Knowlege IS good, yes.
"Science can't bring about peace and love. Religion claims to do it, and at times it does, but Religion also brings about hate and wars and corruption of power. Consider how long the dark ages lasted, when theocracies ruled and there was almost no advancement of knowledge."
Maybe if religion would actually follow the whole, and not twist it words or leave out gods name. We would see a BIG difference.
"I think that Religion may have been a net loss for humanity."
Yes false religion, but the true one remains forever.

"That's not the role of science. You avoided to mention the vaccines that have eliminated much suffering and death. When you get sick, you run to a doctor and advancements in science have made you and members of your family better, right?"
Right on! I cannot deny that science has done good.
"When you get home you turn on the light, you don't light a lantern. Oops! You forgot about that. Has religion done anything to stop killing for God with it's 100 million victims? Absolutely not, they don't even want to talk about it (and neither do you)."
Yes, in fact false religion is blood guilty. But the true religion is free of blood. I only know one religion that aren't involved in wars. I have to admit Jehovah's Witnesses don't get involved with anything from the world. Hmmmmm.....

"Science can't do that but, God's religions can and have failed. And you let them fail because they threaten to take away your reward when you're dead if you even talk about it. How will mankind be judged when they can look back at us and say, "They killed over 100 million people in the name of God, while everyone looked the other way. What was wrong with these prople?"
Have you ever voted? Probably did. And the actions they take on other country's causing death of others is in your hands as well cause you helped put who ever you voted in office and there action's paint your hands with blood cause you support them.

Around the globe, Jehovah's Witnesses respect the governments and flags under which they live. However, Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the flag salute is an act of worship, and a "pledge of allegiance" can only made to God. Witnesses practice strict neutrality.
Jehovah's Witnesses understand the bible to teach that Almighty God requires exclusive devotion; that is, he requires that worship and unrestricted allegiance belong to Him alone.
(Exodus 20:5) I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion
(Matthew 4:10) Then Jesus said... ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’
Of course, Jehovah's Witnesses are well-known as law-abiding persons. The Scriptures also teach that obedience is owed to secular governments, which the bible calls "the superior authorities". Of course, such subjection is RELATIVE to the unrestricted allegiance which is owed to God.
(Romans 13:1) Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God
(Acts 5:29) We must obey God as ruler rather than men
It may be helpful for non-Witnesses to read all of Daniel chapter 3, and note the connections between the ceremony described there and modern pledge of allegiance.

I have not studied the Baha'i' religion up to I desire to ( and I will research extra ). But what I have learn was once very enlightening. In a few historical texts it's stated that Jesus studied it. I have no idea whether it is precise or no longer. But there are best similarities in a few of Jesus teachings and the Baha'i' religion. While I am and can stay a Christian I will say that the sector could be a higher position if extra individuals took their sayings to middle (as a substitute of considering they do, like so much Christians in these days). Whether it's Jesus or Baha'i'.

Science is a wonderful tool, but it is only a tool.
Wisdom is needed to use the tool of science properly.
Science as a "stand alone" to serve mankind, will only destroy us, for then, we will create only Frankensteins and terminators.
True wisdom transcends science, and can only come from God.
We must have the humility to acknowledge that we need a "higher power" to guide us as individuals, families, and societies.
The so-called enlightenment, in which man desired to use his reason alone to better mankind, only leads to darkness.
For all process of reason operate only in the environment of presuppositions that transcend reason, on the basis of what we would call "faith."
Even the reason of atheists and rationalists work in the environment of a vast complex of intuitions that cannot be explained or put down on paper.
When the Judeo-Christian framework is discarded in man's pride that he can go it alone, then problem follows upon problem, as society eventually degenerates into warlord camps.
For if we are nothing but biological organisms, a biological organism seeks nothing but *self* or the following of the innate processes of its program, so out the window goes all justice, charity, respect, mercy, and reverence (for these involve principles that transcend mere physical individuality).
Much is said about the problems that religion cause, but an absence of faith in what is higher than us causes far more serious problems.
As someone once said: "militant atheism robs man of hope. And when man is without hope, violence rules the world"
The terrible murder and injustice of the communist regimes of the twentieth century were all based on "scientific socialism."
Their murders dwarf anything Christians have ever done.

Science has brought us wonderful things--like TV, celphone, and the Net.
But, it has also brought us misery: weapons of mass destruction, controlled food distribution, etc
In short, science can not bring peace and love among us.
In the very near future though, when our Creator has wiped out everything evil including bad science and bad religions, then we shall enjoy the benefit of true science as we develop into perfection.

no it can't. All I see from Science is more anger and more lost and more sadness because people feel the need to use it to explain away God. If we understand Science is an explanation of God's mysteries we could have some peace.
