Americans actually worship at least four versions of the Lord, according to the Baylor Religion Survey (9-11-2006).

+The Authoritarian God is highly involved in individuals' personal lives & world affairs. Believers give the Deity credit for their decision-making, and they feel God is angry & meting out punishment to the wicked.

+The Benevolent God is very active in believers daily life, just not as wrathful. They believe Benevolent God is mostly a force for positive influence in the world, & reluctant to condemn individuals.

+The Critical God is not meddling in world affairs but is nonetheless looking on in disapproval. This God's displeasure will be felt in another life; divine justice is not of this world.

+The Distant God is not active in humanities affairs, & is not especially angry, either. Believers consider the Deity more of a cosmic force who sets the laws of nature into motion.

I believe that God is both Holy and Love. God is the God of the Holy Bible. God is Holy, Love, Just, Gracious, Merciful, and Patient-all of the above, not just one or the other. God was willing to spare the wicked city of Sodom if there was only ten righteous people in it, but there was not, so He destroyed it. In Ezekiel 18 God says that He takes no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies, "therefore repent and live" declares the Lord. In Second Peter it says that God is patient toward unbelievers "not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance". In John 3:16, it says, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." God is a Holy God and sin cannot be in His presence just as darkness cannot be in the presence of light. The good news is that God loves us even though we are sinners and He offers us grace through Jesus Christ. www.equip.org

I would have to say a combination of aspects from all four. I would still call Him my Benevolent God.

He is active in my decisions daily, quick to love and quick to forgive.

God now holds His punishment for Judgment, so those believers feel punished are being purified. (I am personally acquainted with this process and see the results so far....I understand better)

He is displeased with current events, but sees the end and can be / is joyful.

He is not distant, but has defined all laws of nature.

God is seen in all things and made all things.

I believe in no god, however, were I to believe in one, my observations would lead me to conclude that god was, in fact, a distant god, the clockmaker, who, when finished building the clock, left it on a shelf and forgot about it.
