Not sure how I did it but I husrt my shoulder while working out. The pain is intense and is from my neck thru elbow area, starting from the shoulder area(right side). I cant lift it to brush my teeth or change my shirt or pull my pants up or down. Nothing helps, not even vicodin. I tried vicks and my entire arm went very tingly and numbish except I could still feel pain which actually felt worse. Related?
Whats a good way to heal this arm fast and when is a doctor needed?

You should make an appointment to see an orthopedic surgeon as soon as possible for evaluation of your shoulder. The symptoms you describe could just be a sprain but could also be a torn rotator cuff muscle. Typically, if you cannot brush your teeth or lift your arm, this is the case. Do not wait around, the sooner you have this evaluated the better. If indeed you are diagnosed with a rotator cuff tear and need surgery, it is an outpatient procedure but at the same time, do not take it lightly. If you have a complete rotator cuff tear, you will likely require 2-3 months of rehabilitation after surgery just to regain your range of motion and basic strength for regular activities. Despite this time line, it will actually require almost a full year from surgery before your are back walking around like it never happened. If indeed you do have surgery and go to therapy, make sure you decide to go to a therapist that the surgeon recommends as he will likely only recommend a therapist that he works with frequently and specializes in post-operative care and orthopedics. Physical therapy is a much broader field than most people recognize and different therapist specialize in different areas.

Agree...go see your MD or an orthopedic surgeon. I had a the same symptoms your describe and finally went to my doctor. She put me on Vicodin until I got to the orthopod and the Vicodin barely worked. I had a 98% torn rota tor cuff of my right shoulder and had to have it operated on.

Percoct and physical therapy got me up and running again.

sounds like you sprained or tore your rotator cuff. I did the same thing and didn't have to have surgery, because the tear wasn't too bad. I had to wear a sling for a month, though, while it healed. Go to a doctor to find out for sure.....

Go to the orthopod now....From the symptoms you are describing it sounds as if you've done some to the rotary cuff which usually will require a minor microscopic surgery.
