the same as female rn's. I would hate to be cared for by a health person based on their entrance into the field being based on gender. If you are qualified, you will excel
good luck

Just because you are male dosnt mean you will be turned down for a job expecially being an RN. The jobs are many what is your specialty, and how long have you been in that field? If you have been in nursing at least a year and you are looking for a great pay,and are not tied to one spot I would suggest becoming a travel nurse. We make great money, you choose where and when you want to work.(in all the states and some companies go abroad) As an LPN I make $54,000 a year. Your housing, utilities, and travel are payed by your company. You do not pay for them. Here is the company I work for check them out. It will at least give you a chance to see what they offer. They are located in Colorado Springs.(no you do not have to live there to work for them).

Two very good articles on the subject are listed below - links 1 and 2.
Also, there is a quality magazine on the subject, Male Nurse Magazine - link 3. And the LWW publication Men in Nursing is excellent, I hear -- link 4. I subscribe to three LWW pubs and all of them have been great.
Additionally, American Journal of Nursing is a fascinating read - link 5.
I have heard you can request sample copies of the LWW pubs. You could check out their website to see if you can get a copy to read before subscribing.
Check out the free articles at link 5.
Last, but not least, check out careerbuilder.com for job opportunities in your area -- link 6.
Good luck!!!!

I would encourage you to consider the military. I'm a female and spent 23 years in the AF, but male nurses are so much more coveted than females in a military environment. I retired as a lieutenant colonel after 23 years with a pension of over $32,000. Stay in longer than that and the pay is even better! But even if you don't stay in, that's a pretty nice cushion from which to make your next career decisions. I can tell you from personal experience that it gives you the comfort zone from which to decide your future after the military.

There is a nursing shortage. You will not be hired based on your gender.
