I have the Canon Powershot and I love it

You'll really need to narrow it down. Canon has competitive products in nearly every sector- but also some stiff competition, so they're not always the best (or the best deal).

For compact cameras with high ISO capability- the Fuji's have no peer. None are even close.

For an UltraZoom- Panasonic, Sony, Canon all have top players.

For compact with a wide angle and image stabilization... the Panasonics are the best. Nobody has been able to do a 28mm lens on a compact with the clarity of the Panasonics.

For a waterproof camera- Pentax or Oly are the only offerings.

Ease of use/user interface: Kodak. They put a lot of work into making things simple and easy to deal with.

DSLRs- Canon and Nikon are reigning- but that's not to say there aren't other very interesting choices from Sony/Minolta, Pentax, Olympus.

there is no best brand. And- even in the top brands, there are some loser cameras.

I choose to use Nikon because it is the only camera the US government uses for their purposes. I've had multiple Nikon cameras (point and shoot, SLR, and DSLR) and they've NEVER given me any problems. Nikon also has amazing warranties, and their other equipment is tailored perfectly to your camera. They have a wide range of skill levels, and can work for both children and adults, new photographers and professionals. Nikon, to me, if the overall best camera brand I've ever used because they actually think of the audience they are selling to.

Which is better? Chevy or Ford? Porsche or BMW? Mercedes or Lexus? Nikon or Canon? These are all unanswerable questions as they are all "the best" in their class, depending who you ask.

If you are "not a pro," perhaps you would do best by going with the recommendation of your local camera shop pro or a friend who has something that he/she likes. If you have someone who is willing to help you learn how to use a particular camera, add ten points to that brand in your decision making process.

Hi,

The best brand obiously is SONY next comes NIKON. Rest is beased on what you need. You must first know what you exactly need in terms of your budget, requirement of mega pixels, size etc. May be you can find something good for yourself coz I think there is no limit to finding out the best brand, it might get very expensive.

There are more than 130 digital cameras launced this year alone. Be specific with your need first and then it will be easy for you to find one camera. Try camera comparison websites like pricerunner. Visit the source link as well. This might help.

Digital camera? Sony is good enough for it is easy to operate. If you want to be a professional photographer you might take a look at Canon. It has beautiful result and widely used by pro.

I have Sony and it is very helpful.

I bought a Panasonic Lumix, which has Leica lenses on it.

The week before I bought a Canon Ixus 60, but took it back because I didn't like the pictures it took. Everyone I know who has a Canon loves it though.

I love the Panasonic now and would highly recommend it... lovely solid build quality and nice pics.

However, it also depends on how much money you got!
