first of no, Iam not one of those idiots who play a game or watch a movie and say "hey i want to be a navy seal" I honest to goodness want to be a special forces operative but after extensive research I found "excellent shape" to be the only clue to how fit one needs to be and " mental readyiness" (I hope Iam spelling that right) are the only answers I came across, oh wait but there are people willing to "sell me the info". so please any tips or insight about those would be helpfull espically from those who actually are in the armed forces, any tips on fitness, training or any other advice on how to become ready would really help. P.S. oh by the way this is a work in progress I understand I still need to be in much better shape so training for a year or two is already expected.

O.K. so you want to be a seal. here's whats going to happen
after you join the navy you then volunteer for the seals. if accepted get ready to spend the worst week of your life on the beach with hardly any sleep always soaking wet covered in sand
with a team of seal training officers yelling at you every step of the way physical fitness means nothing if you can't keep it together mentally. so that's what they do they stick you in a situation that is so awful physically that most people would last an hour at the most. but you are expected to stay like that for a week. and while you are suffering this physical torture they are doing everything they can to break you mentally.
If you survive and I mean this as no offense to you, Its a pretty big if that you will last out the week. but if you do. all you have done was prove you are worthy enough to be accepted into the the seals training course and that lasts I think a year.
my hats off to you for even considering to join. and if you do I hope you succeed.

I'm sure you can google the stories.

What I know is that very few who take the entrance exam get thru. Then, of those who get into SEAL school, about 70% are washed out.

You need to be a physical specimen (how do you feel about swimming for 18 hours? or running 20 miles? and on no sleep for 2-3 days?).

You also need to be smart, cunning...

In other words, Seals are made by God, and only polished up in SEAL training.

I wish you luck. Thanks for wanting to serve your country!

Please start by contacting a Navy recruiter.
