Opp, Alabama is the place to go for the rattlesnake rodeo.
The first weekend of every March, the city of Opp, Alabama hosts the Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo, a multi-day event that attracts tens of thousands of people to this small southern town.
Try to get there sometime.
I have eaten it grilled. It was tasty and a little like chicken. (that's what they say about frog legs too)
So good I went back for more.
Don't think I'd like it fried though.

There is a rattlesnake rodeo in Opp AL that I've been too before. It was FUN!!!! I don't remember how much I paid for the snake but it was cheap and was served deep fried and battered, almost like chicken fingers. It did taste a lot like chicken but there's very little meat to it. Not bad, but I could've had some chicken and been just as happy. It's more the experience and bragging rights than the taste. It was served with nothing, just dry.

There's a festival any time you make this, and it tastes like Rattlesnake, Grab your favorite Hot Sauce and some Tortillas with a side of Country Tater Salad and it's PARTY TIME!

Barbecued Rattlesnake

Rattlesnake - (4 lbs); skinned, gutted,
and cut into 6" pieces
bottle Italian dressing
(or a mixture of Worcestershire sauce
lemon pepper; or lemon juice, oil,
vinegar, salt, pepper and margarine)

Instructions

Marinate meat at least 30 minutes. Place meat on grill on low heat. Cook until tender.

Iv'e had rattlesnake before (I live in AZ) and it was very good. I had it with a side salad and mashed potaoes, it was extremely tender and very tasty. I don't know if ketchup would be good, maybe if it were fried up?
