If you are more concerned about the color of your potential spouse's skin color, then any chance you have at a successful marriage is doomed. This is called being "shallow" and "materialistic."
If you want to be technical about the color of a person's skin, then "technically" everyone is a shade of brown. Some are light brown, almost "tinted" whereas others may be a very dark brown, kind of like a deep chocolate. Generally, most people are between "tinted" and "chocolate."
So tell your mom that outside of albinism, there isn't such a thing as a "white" person, and a "white" race doesn't exist. We are all brown.

I think you and your mother has a problem.
She should be asking you:
Is he a solid companion?
Is he loyal?
Is he stable?
Will he be a good father to any potential children?
Does he love you?
Does he care about you?
Is he there for you?
Does he have goals? With you? Without you?
Whether he's from Spain, U.S., Jamaica, or Timbuktu is pretty irrelevant when the mortgage is due, and the kids are screaming.
Whether his skin is dark, light, white, or neon, is pretty silly thing to be basing a life decision on.
But you sound concerned too. In which case. Don't marry him, he deserves better.

What difference does it make where the man is from? All that matters is if you love the man.Are you in love with the man or with his skin color?

Actually he is not white your mother is right. He is Spanish and that is most definitly not white. You can do a survey if you want. Go around to different white people, and i guarantee you they will tell you he is not white... he is Latino. It sounds to me like your mother is prejudice and that is not cool this is 2006 not 1906... so my advice to you is marry him just to piss her off.
