I have a recipe that calls for heavy cream, but all I see at the grocery store is heavy "whipping" cream, so that's what I bought. Is there a difference?

There is no difference. But as a recommendation if you ever decide to make homemade whipped cream it helps to chill both the bowl and whisk to keep the cream firm.

What I don't get, is if most stores carry products labeled heavy whipping cream then why not call it that in the recipe. I did not buy the Heavy whipping cream today because I simply was not sure and I figured the person that listed the ingredients knew what they were talking about.....it would seem not.

No difference. There's a difference between heavy cream and regular whipping cream, differing in the amount of butterfat.
