As long are you are in the country legally, and you have a green card, you can join the Army.
My husband was in the Army for 3 years and he just had his green card. He came here from Mexico in 1987.
Good Luck!

No. I know a woman right now who is over in Iraq and has been in the military for 12 years and STILL isn't a citizen of this country. What more does she have to prove? She should automatically get citizenship after serving all that time.

The rules change, but I think you can be a resident alien (green card) to join. Citizenship is a bit easier at that point.
You would also get preference if you have language skills -- do you speak Perdu, Hindi, Arabic?
BTW, thank you for wanting to join the US Army.

you have to be a citizen only if you are an officer or if you are in the coast guard. Another alternative for joining another army is the French Foreign Legion......but you have to learn french(they teach you) and its one of the hardest training regiments you would ever go through.

once you're a US resident, you are able to serve interior the militia. yet his does no longer assure you citizenship. i'm curious, why could a non-American no longer residing interior the states prefer to connect the army?
