Truth is some of the "Christians" reporting on this venue have no clue about choice. What they say is "true" but they omit the first step and assume that they have been called to present the choice to others.

(First)
People only have a choice after God calls them and not before
(Rom. 9:16). "It is not of him that willeth, or of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy." One can decide to be a Muslim, a Catholic, a Protestant, a Jehovah's Witness a this and a that among the world's great religions and some 300 plus American religious flavors -- but no one can really decide to be a Christian.

Jesus selected the 12 and the chosen few on which the spirit came. They did not seek Him or go to school and do prescribed studies, make sure they had the right name, were meeting on the right day, or playing the right music, etc., etc. etc.

(Second)
Hell was prepared for the devil and his angels and not for man.
Once a person is called by God then a choice is set before them (Deut. 30: 15-19) Once called the choice is presented (Ezek. 18: 21-23).

Once called, man does have a choice. He or she must choose between life and death. John 5:40 says: "You will not come to Me that you might have life." The fact is that God provided a way of escape from death where before there was no choice at all. I hope you see the difference.

Many "Christians" do present hell as a threat; when the gospel of Jesus Christ is really the loving restoration of man's broken fellowship with Almight God.

If the situation was just to avoid an unwelcome outcome then I could not agree with you more. What is the choice between steak and salad at a fine restaurant and being burnt at the stake?
None, I say!

You may not like the choice still -- but our Chestnuts are already in the fire and we are invited to a dinner of steak and salad.... I trust you see the difference. If I said you were in the eye of a deadly storm and you needed to seek shelter -- would you say I was making a threat? Or would you say I was offering a choice?

The threat of hell has always been with us as humans. We have an eternal God that is going to punish us eternally for eternal sins.

Salvation is offered in Jesus Christ and it is a choice. Yet hell is not necessarily a choice but our DEFAULT destination to begin with based on our sins.

hell is very real a threat is only a threat,
hell is a choice because we follow that path where our deeds lead
we have choices in every thing we do to do it well ,for love for god ,or for man ,or to do it to hurt or not do it at all ,depending on that we choose to do well and for good purpose god has rewards ,for choosing to do it for evil, or vile reasoning or act,has its very real realisation in the very real hell
god gave us eternal life ,to begin with this life of flesh ,then the rebirth into spirit ,,god needs to sort the good from the bad thus we have this meat to learn from, then the spirit eternal to accept gods rewards or gods displeasure..

I agree.
I know several people who when asked, say that they avoid sinning to keep out of hell, not to get into heaven... that seems like "morality at gunpoint" to me.
The only reason to do good in the world is to avoid eternal torment. Seems kind of backwards to me.

God says, "I put a choice before you today: Life or Death. So choose Life."

It is a choice. Lack of a response is to choose death....

Hell is only a threat if you believe in it. If you don't believe in Hell, then you are not threatened by it.
