My 2 year old daughter liked: My Little Ponies, Wooden Melissa and Doug toys like the cutting board and pizza, she loves arts and crafts thingg (finger paints, paper, construction paper, foamies.....). Her FAVORITE TOY and still is is the Fisher Price Loving Family Dollhouse, but that is probably better for Santa than a party gift. My daughter loved books, and also got a subscription to Animal Baby Magazine. Leap Frog refridgerator letters were also great, and duplo or mega blocks. Movies are good too....mine still liked baby einstein. And, toddler music is always great.
Have fun!!

Both of my kids just loved the Thomas the train toys, Dora the Explorer toys, and Baby Einstein videos. Kids that age also love Veggie Tales movies, Sesame Street, and Blues Clues.
My daughter really loved dress up stuff and chalk and paint (craft type stuff). Even though she's only 2, she might really have fun doing art stuff.
And bath stuff - my kids love the crayola bathtub crayons, colored water tablets and bathtub "stickies". They even have a Dora bathtub toy. And then you can get her a "big girl" special bath towel and toothbrush to match.
You can even get one of those toy catalogs from Toys R Us and look at it with her. Watch her expression to see what sparks her interest.
And don't worry, you're not a bad mom. I have always had trouble finding non-Thomas the Tank Engine stuff for my son. It gets easier when they are older and can tell you.

To bad you can't buy grass hopppers. My daughter had a ball playing with one outside. She picked it up and it jumped off before she could put it in her mouth. As it jumped she went after it. Giggled the entire time. Her favorite toys are the that she can manipulate and they make noise. We have the snowman and puppy that wiggle and bark, while they "sing" from Halmark. She carried it around for a month. I think the best present is one that you will play with together.

some man or woman informed her there might want to be 2 cousins. I t's unlike she extra up the numbers in her head. She discovered Spanish words through the redundant Dora. Does she understand what the words propose? in case you delay a crayon or a cup or a shoe, can she inform you what they're referred to as in English and Spanish? Or does she basically randomly jibber words? From what you've stated, she sounds ordinary-- and educated.

Books are good (the ones with the thick cardboard pages). And clothes.(that's like a gift for YOU too!) Most two year olds like musical moving toys. You can tell them to get her whatever they would enjoy seeing her play with.

I agree with musical toys, I got my niece a microphone that played music and she could record her voice, I know that's an evil toy but my sister got my son a drumset lol. Also she loved playing dress up! They sell dress up kits with the clothes, jewelery, shoes, etc.

A good present would be a set of simple story books with her favourite characters in and nice pictures. That way you can spend quality time every evening reading her a bedtime story.

Get her something she can grow into. How about a play kitchen? Those are great for kids her age and even when they're older like 7 or 8. The little play food that comes with it is excellent for teaching. Learning names of foods, difference between fruits and veggies, colors, and maybe even counting.

I agree with books. I am getting my two year old boy a magna doodle so that he can draw. My mom babysits for us, and that is his favorite toy at her house. She is teaching him letters and shapes by drawing on the magna doodle! It's a simple and cheap toy that keeps the kids busy.
