No, it is not your hamstring as the hamstrings are located on the back of your thigh and not the front. More than likely you strained one of your quads and most likely the rectus femoris muscle. The rectus femoris not only acts as a knee extensor but also a hip flexor and thus it is easily and commonly injured during soccer because it can be stretched over two joints at one time thus easily predisposing it to injury while running, kicking and especially a combination of the two activities. In addition to commonly spraining this muscle, soccer players also partially tear this muscle on a frequent basis thus also predisposing you to common problems at or about the knee such as patellar tendonitis, chondromalacia patella and even what is known as iliotibial band syndrome. If it only hurts when you walk or kick something and you are not in constant pain, then the pain is mechanical in nature and will likely heal within the next 10 days to 2 weeks with just some basic rest (avoid running and kicking). You may also ice the affected area if you aggravate it severely. If the pain is constant and even hurts when you are sleeping or you are waking up in pain occasionally, then this means the area is likely inflammed. Either way, you should visit your physician soon as he will likely prescribe some anti-inflammatory medication and refer you to physical therapy. Even if the thigh is not inflammed, a few sessions of therapy to educate you about how to properly restrengthen the thigh and stabilize the knee and lower extremity will benefit you greatly and help prevent further reoccurence. You should not visit a chiropractor for help of this condition as what they call a "subluxation" of your spine is not the culprit and an "adjustment" or two of your spine will do nothing for this condition.

Hamstrings are in the back of the leg and definitely would hurt when you bend down. This sounds like a pulled groin/hip flexor muscle.

Hope this helps. Try some ice and rest it. If it is not better in 2-3 days, see your Chiropractor to find out WHY you injured this muscle.

Best wishes and good luck.

Nope--sounds like a muscle strain. You can call your doctor to verify this, but that's what it sounds like. You're probably trying to compensate for your adjusted center of gravity and added weight.

Sounds like you pulled a muscle, you might want to try walking with crutches.
