At the Veterinary office I used to work at the secretary liked to keep candles lit so the office wouldn't smell too bad. Unfortunately, we had cats that we had adopted and that lived at the clinic and just got to roam around and do what they pleased. This one cat though liked to stay by the desk and kept getting to close to the candles. Finally, one day he got too close and singed one of his whiskers. Now, he doesn't go by it anymore.

Don't even have candles. Pets are like children, but they do not grow up. I'd hate to think of what some people would do to teach their children not to touch flames.

I cannot even read most of these posts. All kidding aside.

Let the cat learn it on its own. It will keep going for teh candle until something bad happens to it caused by the candel.

Get a squirt gun (mini one) or a spray bottle thing and every time you see it sniffing, spray it. Either that or put a scent on the candles that your cat doesn't like. (I think it's like pepper or something, but i dunno) but i wouldn't recommend it because then when you light those candles, your whole room will smell like that scent. And lastly, you could put the candles out of reach of your cat. (That might be hard if your cat is agile)

Put the candles out of her reach (difficult, I know) or put them inside lanterns or similar. That way, at worst she might get a slight burn from the hot glass or ceramic, but won't be able to get to the flame.

Spray your moggie with water whenever he gets too close. Cats learn by association. Also if he burns himself once he is unlikly to want to do it again!
