You could be developing or may have already developed arthritis which is the inflammation of the joint. The three main symtoms of this is joint pain, stiffness and joint swelling. So it may not really be the bone that is necessarily causing the pain but the joint that surrounds the bone. It becomes irrated when there is a change in the climate from hot to cold etc, which causes it to become inflamed and then it goes back to its normal size when the temperature returns back to normal. This constant changes causes it to get irritated which in turn causes the pain that is experienced. Hope this helps a little...
