It is impossible to please God without accepting the atonement provided by him through Jesus Christ. To attempt to be righteous as in following the example of Christ is to fall short and that is the reason that Christ died to atone for your sins. If you could simply be perfect there would have been no purpose in the sacrifice of Jesus. It is not merely believing that Christ exist that saves us it is accepting the atonement he provided for us. Those that see value in these things will seek God and he will make himself real to you.Believing in God and accepting his atonement is not continuing to live a life of sin but yielding yourself to his will. What shall we say shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid. How can we that are dead to sin continue anymore therin? Read Romans chapter 6.

And how would one do that? Should they roam about the desert telling anyone who would listen to not pay attention to organized religion? If so, then the "desert" is the internet and I am Jesus.

I would first pose this question: Why try to live up to Jesus's standard if you don't believe in him?
Second, many claim to believe in him, and do not. Anyone can call themselves a Christian.
Anyone who believes in Jesus should strive to be like him. The Term "Christian" actually means "little christ" and was given to Christ's early followers because they 1) believed he was who he said he was, and 2) they lived like it.
Jesus lived a pure and sinless life. He reproved sin and resisted the temptations of Satan. He loved the unlovable, but rebuked their sins.
Good Works and a moral life:
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
(Matthew 7:21-23)
Knowing Christ:
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
(Romans 10:13-17)
Following Christ:
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
(Matthew 16:24)
Faith without works is dead, but works without faith is death.

It is better to believe in him and live a sinful life. This is what all Christians do, because no one (other than Jesus Christ) has lived without sin. If you believe in Jesus Christ you would believe in living your life as he taught us all to live. No one is perfect (except for Jesus Christ), but that doesn't excuse willful sinning (sinning because you expect forgiveness).

it's retarded, all you have to do is accept Jesus and you're saved in some sects, while others say you don't.....all in all, they don't have a clue either
