I own the Fuji s9500 too! Just bought it 3 weeks ago to be exact. I'm kinda having problems with the picture quality being dull looking. But other then that I really like it. I had a hp before & it was a waste of money.

I heard canon was good! I know its one of the big leaders in the camera industry. Just read reviews about it on certain websites, that should give you a good idea.

If you want an SLR, then the Canon is better by definition. Not knowing what you want to use it for makes it impossible to make any recommendation. Will the Canon make you a better photographer? No! Learn to use the camera you have. If you find yourself being hampered by it, then make another purchasing decision. Until the camera is holding you back and not your own inexperience, stay with what you have and stretch it to its limits.
