The muslim extremists say they will never give up so how do we defeat such an enemy?

We cannot. The West cannot "defeat" this - only from within Islam can sanity come to these people.

What we *can* do is to stop treating moderate, peaceful Muslims as if they are wild-eyed terrorists and support them in *their* struggle to bring the extremists to a more tolerant practice of Islam.

Similarly, atheists cannot "defeat" fundamentalist Christians - only wisely moderate Christians can hope to bring radically extremeist Christians to their senses.

We don't. We turn to the Lord and allow HIM to defeat the enemy. (He is far, far stronger than they are.) But don't fear, things that are happening in the world today are supposed to be happening, in order to bring about the End. "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not troubled. For these things must come to pass..." So don't worry about it. Stay close to God, and you will either be protected, or, if you die, you will not fear it.

Maybe if you can't beat em' join em'. We need people who actually understand the religion instead of people who propagate hate on both sides.
