She was likely pagan. There are many people who believe the universe itself is deity. So to say, "I'm the daughter of the universe" is something like saying "I'm a child of God". The difference is in the perception/viewpoint of the highest deity.

She wasn't saying anything that should be alien to you! We're all daughters or sons of the universe surely? We are born from this universe, live in it and die in it. I think she just means that it is her origin. But it sounds nicer :)

It means she bought into a lie and is deceived into believing something that isn't true. There is no such thing as a "daughter of the universe". She's duped.

Sounds like a New-Age nutjob. They say things like that. She was probably wearing loose, bright-coloured clothing, possibly tie-dyed or something like that, long hair in braids probably and lots of cheap, strange jewelry? If I'm close I deserve 10 points.
