I got a puppy today and ever since we got her this morning, she's been having 'throat convulsions' and her stomach does the same. This is happening every 10-15 minutes. At the end, she always gags, but has not vomited at all. I doubt that she has anything stuck in her throat because she can still eat normally. Help please!

I would strongly suggest you take her to the vet ASAP! Or call the vert and ask them about it. They will know if you need to bring her in. Puppys are so small, you don't want to take any risks.
Good Luck and I hope your little puppy gets better soon! :)

A FEW THINGS, IT COULD BE 'PUPPY COUGH' OR KENNEL COUGH, IT SOUNDS LIKE AN INVERTED SNEEZE WHICH HAPPENS TO MOST DOGS. TOO, IT COULD BE A STOMACH VIRUS SO YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK HER STOOL TO SEE IF THERE ARE WORMS, OR NOT BEING SOLID - THAT'S AN INDICATOR OF A PROBLEM. DID YOU STICK WITH THE SAME FOOD AS THE PLACE WHERE YOU GOT THE PUPPY? IT COULD BE SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS JUST ADJUSTING TO THE NEW PLACE, SOMETHING IN THE AIR - THEY ARE REALLY SENSITVE TO ALL CHEMICALS AND SMELLS, SO ANYTHING IN THE CARPET, ROOM SPRAYS ETC. TRY CLEANING REALLY WELL AND SEE HOW SHE REACTS TOO - WORST CASE - TAKE THE GAL TO THE VET, THEY'RE THE BEST RESOURCE - EXPENSIVE AT TIMES BUT ALL WORTH IT WHEN YOU SEE THOSE 'LIL PUPPY EYES.

CHEERS,
KC

I agree. Its always best to call the vet with anything abnormal with a small puppy. They are always willing to give you advice and they really dont mind when you call with questions. Better safe than sorry. Good luck

I'd suggest checking to make sure the collar isn't too tight. Also, when walking your puppy, try to get a harness, it's not as rough on the neck that way.
Consult a vet, to make sure there is nothing wrong with her trachea.

Call the vet and make an appointment ASAP. She probably has Kennel Cough. It is easily treatable in its early stages. After she is better there is a vaccine to prevent it in the future.

She may have worms. Some have to be "coughed up" and then swallowed to complete their life cycle.

No matter what, she needs to be seen by a vet immediately. This is not normal dog behavior. Also, she may have parvo, or another disease.

I would take her to a vet, there is an insurance program that can save you tons of money over the life of your pet.

it might be hyperventilation it makes the dog make this loud noise in there throat.Just rub its throat and if she keeps on doing it take her to your local vet.
