Any surgery can have side effects. See if you can get a copy of the operative report. Ask your surgeon: were there any adhesions? any complications during surgery i.e. bleeding or any gallbladder wall or gallstones left behind? Any spillage of the stones? What is the chance of getting a hernia from the incision(s) and or ports. Is it possible a stone was missed in the liver or a stone migrated out of the gallbladder before it was removed? Were there any studies done to confirm no stones left behind, i.e. cholangiogram? Can I get an ultrasound for this painful area? Ask the surgeon if any further studies can be done, i.e. HIDA scan to see if you have sphincter of Oddi dysfunction.
