hiya,can u please tell me when is the first scan??

i am only 6-7 weeks and i cant wait for my first scan.after how many weeks it is??thank u xxx

normally,your first routine scan is when your are 12 weeks pregnant,but thats in the uk,i dont know if its any different in other countries.

usually 12 weeks in the UK but you don't really see much. The baby looks like a small kidney bean.
The next scan is usually about 20 weeks and the picture is much clearer - friends and family will actually know it is a baby they are looking at!
The last scan for most people is around 34 weeks when the dr estimates the birth weight (usually totally wrong from my experience!).
If there are any problems along the way then there may be more scans just to keep an eye on the baby etc.

It really depends on the doctor. I had my 2 boys in Illinois and my doctor there did 2 routine scans during pregnancy. The first one at about 9 weeks to date the pregnancy and then the second at 20 weeks. Now I live in Tennessee and they only do one here routinely. Just the 20 week one. But I'm considered high risk now so I'm 11 weeks and have already had 2. I can't wait for the next one though!

You should book with your midwife at your GP surgery at about 9 weeks. She will then arrange your Nuchal Translucency scan for about 12 weeks. You should then get another san at around 20 weeks which will hopefully tell you what you are having, although this si not definite and some hospitals dont like telling in case they get it wrong. You will then get your last scan at around 34 weeks.
If you have any problems at any other time (excessive morning sickness, pain, bleeding etc) your GP will arrange a scan

Well depends where you live.After your first antenatal visit at your clinic the midwife will send you for a dating scan. But sometimes they dont. That means you'll have to wait till your 20 weeks preggies to actually see the bundle of joy. It really sucks! When you go,just sound unsure of your dates, by something like 2 weeks. That might get you a dating scan,and your first picture.

Most Dr.s will do the 1st ultrasound around 10-12wks. and then a 2nd around 20wks. If there are complications or you are considered HIGH Risk they may do more, however, you can go outside the Hospital and pay to have one done early but at 6-7wks there isnt much to see! goto :www.babycenter.com type in your due date and sign up for their email, it is VERY informative, it sends you a weekly email on the week that you are pregnant and tells you exactly what to expect and about how big and developed oyur baby is!

Depends on your doc and your insurance. I just had one today, and I'm only 8 weeks along. It was an inter-vag, which is better for seeing the fetus this early. Sometimes, though, insurance will only pay for 1 and it's usually between 12 and 20 weeks. Best of luck!

I had my first scan at 12 weeks and another at 20.The 20 week scan is usually when they can tell you if it is a boy or girl-I am having a boy:)

12-14 weeks however if you've had problems in previous pregnancies they do it at 6 or 7 weeks-You then have one at 18-20 weeks-which can sometimes tell the sex of the baby.
