I joined a free diet website called sparkpeople. It makes it really easy to count calories and stuff. You just search for what you ate in the database and it fills in how many calories, protein, fat, carbs, everything in it you want to track. It asks how much you weigh and goal weight and stuff and recommends a healthy range specific to you. If you want to lose weight quicker then it gives you a lower calorie range, but it doesn't let you go under 1200 calories a day or set a goal that is more than 2 pounds per week because that would be unhealthy. It has meal plans, but I prefer to make up my own diet and just stay within the range. I also use it to track my cardio and strength training exercise. They have a ton of useful articles about living a healthy lifestyle and there are tons of people to offer their support. I still can't believe all the features you get for a free site! I'm not getting paid to say this, I just love it!

it will take however long it took to put on the weight, to lose it. A good diet is to avoid fatty high salt foods, ready meals and 'snacks'. If you are hungry cook a meal, don't eat a snack. If you aren't hungry you don't need a snack. Eat lots of vegetables, trim the fat off meat, don't eat chicken skin, don't eat cheap margerine or spreads because they contain trans fatty acids which stay in your body as fat. Butter is better but spread thinly. And don't forget exaersize. No diet in the world will make you lose weight if you sit on your backside all day long.
I don't believe in diets, just healthy eating. If you cannot cook, buy some simple cookery books and start feeding yourself properly.

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

A sight with some really cool diet calculators and interesting calorie counting calculators is here. Check it out.

Almost any diet will help you lose weight.
Most people can lose 5 or 10 or even 20 or 30 pounds, if they reallt want to try a diet and can manage it for a month or two.
The trick is rarely LOSING weight!

The challenge is keeping it off!!

The challenge is STICKING TO IT!

For this, you probably need people.
You need like-minded people around you.
A culture of weight losers often helps.
A culture of disciplined people around you of some kind or another will help you stick to the personal hopes and goals of your own life.
You constantly encourage and 'feed off' one another.

A good diet is to always eat in moderation. But if you want to lose weight just quit eating. My mother didn't eat any solid food for one year and lost 126 lbs. She just ate vitamins, and drink energy drinks. Hope this helps....

The best way to do this is to eat what you eat now (only in half-size portions), and jog or walk briskly for a mile, twice a day.

Easy.

Good luck...
