bdfaulkner is correct, to a point.
the Skyline does not meet US emissions standards, but that does not mean you cannot import or own one, only that you cannot get it licensed in the US. So you could let it sit in your garage, but you could not get license plates for it or legally drive it on any public roads. I guess if you really wanted to, you could take it to a race track and drive it there, but you'd have to move it on a trailer to get it there.

Okay, there is a lot of misconception about importing a vehicle into the US. It is possible to legally import a skyline if you get it DOT certified. That process can take a bit of money and some time but it is possible. It isn't just about emissions either. The US has specs for everything from emissions to headlights to safety equipment. Just to say that it doesn't meet our emissions standards is wrong because then it would just be a matter of changing out some exhaust components.

One reason is that Nissan does not want to de-tune the engine to meet US emission standards. Another reason is that there is insufficient crash test data on the Skyline. Motorex was importing them for a while, but they could not afford to crash test enough of them. You could go buy a G35 coupe and order some Skyline badging, but I'll bet even the Japanese don't consider that car a Skyline.

The Nissan Skyline is tagged as a "Super car". It is harder to get into the states but it is still legal if you know how. The link provided will show you how and it is really not the pricey. If you can stick to a single turbo model then it is your best bet and has the most upgrades avail in North america. Best of Luck

The Skyline is illegal in the USA because it doesn't conform with US federal emmisions laws. Being made in Japan, it obviously doens't have to. It obeys Japan's emmision laws, which are different than ours, and unless modified to comply with US laws, they cannot be sold in the US.
