someone asked if "oh my god" was a swear word and a religious person says that it is using the lord's name in vain.
If that is very wrong to do (using the lord's name in vain) why is it that EVERYONE that is having sex says "oh my god!!" Are christians that say that ignoring God's decree? Do they have to go to priests and repent for saying "oh my God" while having sex?

Everyone??? I remember being told not to lump everyone together because you don't know what everyone does. But yes, this is blasphemy and yes a Christian -or anyone- would be ignoring and thus breaking God's law. As for a priest, only if you are Catholic. Otherwise we can Go directly to God through His Son, Jesus Christ, confess our sins and "He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness".

I don't see that as using the Lord's name in vane. If you said J....C..... while swearing that would be.

nobody in my family has ever said that--check the reruns, it was always "oh my stars" or "oh my word" and we're witches!
