Just tell her to relax and take deep breaths. Try massaging her chest with the tips of your fingers. I had the same problem thats what worked best for me.

That is a very common trait of Anxiety it sneaks up without warning and for no reason. Personally suffering for Anxiety Disorder this is in fact true. It can be the calmsest moment and and Bam! You have one the best thing that i found was to go lay down in a dark room with no sound and relax for a half hour. She may however require meds for this. They are not bad provided they are not abused, her doctor can prescribe xanax, when she has one she takes one and within a half hour she will calm. But, there are warnings some people abusive them. Personally being fearful of pills it took me going to the emergency room and the doctor giving it to me before I believed iti safe. She will need to see a doctor or a therapist this will not going away on its own, she will need to learn how to cope, and recongnize when is coming about and how to deal with one. In time they will get better, i will have one every couple of months now and they seem to not be as bad anymore. Being patient is most important it is bad enough that persons that have this problem go through this, but it is worse when people that don't understand it ridcule us; believe her if she feels like she is having one and you are doing the right thing by being supportive.

Things to know about anxiety disorders:
1. They are common as dirt.
2. The number one cause of them is drug use. Of those drugs, pot is the most common. Conclusion, don't allow your girlfriend to smoke pot (duh). If you smoke pot (and you, ummm, actually give a sh1t about your girlfriend) then stop. You stopping will help her stop. Which will go a looooong way toward stopping her from suffering. Don't allow pot smoking friends. You're a man. Put your damn foot down.
3. Anxiety disorders (also, depression and eating disorders) can be treated very effectively. If she is not in treatment, she needs to be.
4. The correct professional to be treating her is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. This is a legally protected term that only people with PhD's in Clinical Psychology or PsyD's from accredited universities can get by sitting for your state's licensure exam and working with a clinical population. Most practitioners without this credential are essentially frauds and will screw your woman up royally if you allow them access to her (so don't). Get the right professional and make sure she sees them. After a few months, you will be very pleased with the results.
5. Anxiety disorders, like most mental illness, don't exist in a vacuum. People in her life interact with the illness. Part of the treatment is getting those people involved. In other words, it is a good idea to ask to be included in her treatment when appropriate. Ask the doctor about this.

Anxiety a word that comes from the Latin root meaning" twisted rope." An anxiety attack is a common result of the stress of modern life. Put your middle finger on the point in the center of her body between her nipples. This is called the Sea of Tranquility point or CV17 in Acupressure. Tell her to concentrate on her breathing to slow it down. This will have a calming affect.Long, deep breathing is important for releasing tension as well as for emotional balancing. Make sure her lifestyle includes deep breathing or yoga, and have her avoid caffeine and refined sugar. It would be advisable for her to see a doctor if her condition gets worse.

Just the simple fact that you care enough to ask the question says alot about you!!!!!!!!!!!! Like the others have said take her to a doctor. My man took me to my psych and I love him that much more. I am on 3 milligrams of xanax a day. It is important for her to know that you don't judge her in any way. Having panic attacks can make some people self conscience ( not being perfect etc..). I think it is great that she has you in her life. You also can think yourself into stress. I have read a lot of self help books Don't Sweat the Small Stuff its all Small Stuff is a great book. Best of luck to both of you.

There are lots of people who would laugh at the possibility of altering their destinies. This is because it believes that nobody gets more that exactly what is written in his destiny.
