It is a normal thing they do when they are content. Means you are doing a good job with them :)

You should already have a book on this birds care and diet. Buying the right bird seed etc. Cuttle bones should also be placed inside the cage for calcium and beak care.

CUTTLE BONE

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An important source of calcium and other necessary minerals for all caged birds.
Aids your bird in sharpening its beak.

Simply attach the cuttle bone close to a perch inside the cage where your bird can play with it and chew on it. He'll do the rest

Grinding their beaks is a sign of contentment. They're happy, content, and relaxed. it is nothing to worry about.

Mine used to do that. Have they got a cuttlefish to file their beaks on? Imagine it being like your toenails when they get too long!

i had a cockatiel for many years and it is when they a digesting their food, they store the food in what you call a crop when eating and digested it slow and thats the sound you can hear. this happens quite a while after they have eaten they seed.

my friends Derbyan Parakeet does the same thing. It is usually whenever anyone walks by at nighttime. Sometimes it can be different things depending on the bird.

Mine does the same thing. I asked the vet and she said that it was a specific communication. I noticed that he does it only in the presence of his best friend, a female parakeet.
