All my cats are the self-cleaning models. Except the hairball ejection device works a little too well. The saliva cats have acts as a natural deoderant and coat conditioner.
Seriously, cats don't usually need baths unless they have fleas or were rolling in something that would be toxic for them to ingest, or as in the case one of my cats, vomited and urinated on themselves and was too ill to clean herself. If you must bathe your cat, use baby shampoo or mild soap like Dawn dish liquid. Dry the cat promptly with a towel. You should bathe a cat no more than once a week for allergy reduction purposes.
To keep the hairball ejections down, give them a little petromalt once a week.

Indoor cats very rarely need bathed unless they are dirty or have a matted hair coat. Most cats will get very stressed during a bath so it is better to let them clean themselves

We have had indoor cats for many years. One of the great thing about cats is that unless they are sick or have fleas, they give themselves their own baths. If they are in a good mood, they may even give you a few licks.

I have five cats, two long-haired the others short-haired. They are 14, 13, 11, 10 and have never had a bath in their lives. My other cat is 22 yrs old and stopped grooming herself three or four years ago. She goes every month to six weeks for a comb-out and bath at a groomers.
Cats are self-groomers and very fastidious. A healthy cat has no discernible body odor.

I've had my cat Jack for 13yrs. I bath him twice a year. In spring before flea season. That's when I start his flea {4months}treatment. And them again in the fall. on a warm day. He loves his bath after wards. His pride is hurt during the bath. He will run around and is so happy, guess because he feels good and clean. He never hole a grudge about his baths. Like most cats will.

I never bathed my indoor cat, he was a shorthair & really good at keeping himself clean.
On the other hand, if you have a longer haired cat such as a persian, I would say besides the daily brushings, they should be professional groomed at least every 6 months!

I give my kitten regular baths (actually showers with a removable shower head) with a gentle shampoo almost every week because my honey has the misfortune of being a cat person with cat allergies. He doesn't enjoy the baths, but he's learning that they aren't too scary, don't last very long, and he gets a treat afterwards.

An indoor cat should not need to be bathed. They do that themselves when they lick their fur. Most cats are very clean and it seems like they almost take pride in it! Just brush your cat once in awhile, and give it lots of petting and love and good food- it'll keep your cat's fur shiney, clean, and eliminate excessive shedding:o)

i have to bathe one of my indoor cats pretty regularly.. he doesnt do a good job of cleaning himself and he starts to smell.. it kind of just depends on how well your cat cleans himself.. my other cat get a bath maybe only every 6 months.. but the other one who doesnt clean himself gets a bath about every month. if u havent bathed ur cat yet, try getting him used to water.. just place him in a tub and get in there with himm.. .put on a bathing suit if that bothers u.. but that makes him seem safer.. and just warm him up to it.. dont use soap yet.. then after a couple times of this.. add soap to him. untill he is calm. my cat is very used to baths he doesnt fight them at all.. i use normal shampoo on my cat as id use on my head.. just bc i dont like the smell of cat shampoo.. but if u do do that.. check the labels of the shampoo to make sure there is nothing harmful.. or something that would dry out his skin
