Is hunting considered the murdering of animals? I mean in this country we definitely have enough to eat. I could understand if you "have to" hunt and need to put food on the table, but it seems most do it for sport. I just can't comprehend that. Help me out someone.

I do not hunt for sport.Look at it this way.1 adult deer =50 to 80 lbs. of meat that is very healthy for you.Go to the store and buy 10 lbs. of beef tenderloins (fillets),10 lbs. of rib-eyes.and 30 lbs.of ground chuck .It will cost you $250.00 to $350.00 to do this.1 deer tag in this state is $15.00 the bullet is maybe at the most $5.00 and the arrows are roughly $10.00.If you have it processed it will cost around $75.00.I hunt deer to save money and The meat is healthier than what you buy. One deer will cost around a $100.00. In my book that is a big saving in money and health.

Vegitarians would consider it murdering animals, I'm not and I don't. They are welcome to their opinions and I'll stick to mine.

Sport? I suppose you could call it sport but that's not what I'd think of as a sport. On the other hand it does involve a lot of time and effort for relatively little return. I do it as a way of getting something that tastes much better into my diet, and something that doesn't come with a load of antibiotics and hormones too.

I am not about to turn vegitarian and I think the deer on my friend's 640 acre ranch have a much more relaxed and pleasant life than the steers in the midwestern feed lots.

So once in a while one of my friends deer looks up and thinks "what's he doing over there" and ten seconds later they are dead. No trip to the slaughter house, no being stunned and strung up, just a nice quiet life and a sudden death at the end.

Since we have decimated the predator species there are many game animals and few hunters. I don't have any moral difficulty with being one of the few who kills deer. I'd also hunt ferral pigs if I knew where to find them, they are a mix between wild boar and escaped domestic pigs, so they are huge and do a lot of damage to the semi desert California ecosystem.

I wouldn't hunt any of the cats though, not unless they became a problem to humans. I've only ever seen one mountain lion on the west coast and that was a fleeting glimpse as it bolted across the road in Oregon. I've seen one bobcat too and feel privileged. But I could show you 30 deer right now who have no natural predators.

Ive been hunting since I was 7, I am 46 now and have never missed a season. MOST ethical hunters are actually Game management specialist. Consider this fact before you call us murderers, if it wasnt for hunters the whitetail deer species in Nebraska has the possibility of being wiped out due to chronic wasting disease. This disease spreads rapisly and is caused from overpopulation of the herds, another disease from this overpopulation is blue tongue. I am not a "trophy" hunter by any means I EAT EVERYHING I kill. from squirrells to wood ducks. But I am not above taking a trophy deer if it comes in view.

iam a hunter and it is not for you that's great but you don't understand anything about it but for you to call it murder is just idiotic and and if i have said it once i have said it a hundred times we as people have to manage there numbers if we don't we will have no animal's in our woods and forests your just another uneducated anti-hunter that says they care about animals but has no clue how to do it the best way is to thin the herd ...... I think you have a better response with this question in the
(veegan) or tree hugger part of yahoo answers so go there.....
Have you ever read the bible (GENESIS 1-26 )THEN GOD SAID LET US MAKE MAN IN OUR IMAGE ,IN OUR LIKENESS,AND LET THEM RULE OVER THE FISH OF THE SEA AND THE BIRDS OF THE AIR OVER THE LIVE STOCK OVER ALL THE EARTH AND OVER THE CREATURES THAT MOVE ALONG THE GROUND. So your point your saying that your right and gods wrong i think not go away

I hunt strictly for the experience of making 100 percent of my predatory instincts. To KILL is not as important to me, the sport of being at one with the game and then when the time is right to close the deal is very satisfying to me. I love venison, and its the only legal way to posess it. I only kill one- two deer per year. I get just as much satisfaction from watching the game and being a part of their world. Scientifically the animals do need to be harvested, because of urban sprawl and their abilities to adapt, they can become to numerous and an unhealthy herd can develop. That is not natural when they live off of people gardens etc.

My family lives mostly on wild game, deer, elk, bear, fish and birds.
Here in Montana a lot of families do.
My doctor recommends that I eat wild game, because it is much healthier, it is very low in cholesterol, and free of chemicals.
I do greatly enjoy the hunt though, and if we did not hunt them they would become badly over populated and just starve to death anyway.

HERE IS A VIEW POINT FOR YOU TO PONDER
THERE IS SUCH A THING AS GAME MANAGEMENT
FOR INSTANCE, TALKING DUCKS AND GEESE.....
BIG MONEY IS SPENT ANUALLY TO STUDY THE SIZE OF THE DUCK POPULATION
NOT JUST OVERALL BUT PER SPECIES
IF THE POPULATIONS GETS TOO SMALL FOR A GIVEN SPECIES THEN THE BAG LIMIT IS ADJUSTED TO GIVE THE SPECIES A CHANCE TO RECOVER
CONVERSELY IF THEY GET TOO POPULOUS THE BAG LIMIT TO HUNTERS IS INCREASE FOR THAT SPECIES
MANY YEARS WENT BY AND THE DEPT OF INTERIOR WHO REGULATES SUCH MATTERS NEGLECTED TO STUDY THE POPULATION OF SNOW GEESE
BEFORE ANYONE REALIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING THE POP GREW SO IMMENSE THAT THEY DESSIMATED ALL OF THE FOOD SOURCES IN THE TUNDRA WHERE MANY TYPES OF DUCKS GO TO BREED
THE GEESE ATE EVERTHING TO THE POINT OF GROUND EROSION , POSSIBLY DESTROYING THE CHACE FOR IT TO EVER COME BACK
THIS KILLED OFF HUGE POPULATIONS OF OTHER TYPES OF WILDFOWL
ONCE THEY REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED THE DEPT OF INTERIOR INCREASED THE LIMITS AND LENGTHENED THE HUNTING SEASONS IN AN ATTEMPT TO BALANCE THE POPULATIONS OF SNOW GEESE
HOW DO YOU BALANCE THE NUMBERS ?
HUNTERS
HUNTING IS PART OF OUR HERITAGE AND HAS BEEN PASSED DOWN THROUGH GENERATIONS
WE REAL HUNTERS TAKE WHAT IS LEGAL AND WE DONT JUST KILL AND LEAVE THEM IN THE FIELD TO ROT
ACTUALLY MOST REAL HUNTERS DO NOT LIKE TO "KILL" ANIMALS BUT HARVEST THEM AS FOOD WITHIN THE LAWS.
ANOTHER EXAMPLE IS WHAT HAPPENED IN NEW JERSEY WHEN THEY BANNED DEER HUNTING
THE POPULATION GREW AND CROWDED ITSELF
DIDEASE SPREAD BECAUSE OF THE OVERCROWDING
PEOPLE DIED LEFT AND RIGHT FROM STRIKING DEER ON THE HIGHWAYS
PEOPLE CRIED ABOUT HUNGRY DEER EATING THEIR CROPS AND GARDENS
INSURANCE CLAIMS SKYROCKETED FROM ACCIDENTS
TAKE AWAY THE HUNTER AND YOU UNBALANCE THE EQUATION
I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU TO UNDERSTAND AT LEAST ONE VIEWPOINT
WE HUNTERS HAVE A GREAT RESPECT AND LOVE FOR THE ANIMALS WE HARVEST AS WELL AS THE THRILL OF THE SPORT AND THE LOVE OF THE OUTDOORS
WE ALL PAY HIGH EXCISE TAXES ON GUNS, AMMO AND HUNTING GEAR WHICH FUNDS CONSERVATION EFFORTS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY
HOW MUCH DO NON HUNTERS CONTRIBUTE ? WELL.....

Do knock it until you've tried it. If you are eating today, thank a hunter.
