You should have started your project sooner, because if it is due tomorrow, you are already too late to be doing basic research like this.

See the wikipedia scorpion page below.

I am sure scorpions eat things, and maybe without scorpions those things would multiply out of control. Also there are probably other things that eat scorpions, and those things would starve without scorpions to eat. But it may be more subtle than that. It isn't really a simple question. It can be really complex, as most ecological question usually are.

Well in answering this question you should never look at the benefits toward people, I dont know of any. But ecologically speaking, they do have an importance. Scorpions and most other arachnids for that matter are insectivores, so the consumption of insects is their major role. They are also fed upon by other animals, mostly mammals, birds and reptiles, but also by larger arachnids as well. They form a link in the vasty complex food chain in their native regions and always have. Most scorpions on earth today have relatives that are far older than any animals on the planet today, including most insects and definatly mammals......so everything else adapted to having scorpions around, not the other way around.

hope this helps!

Scorpions are just like any other part of a food chain. They are a mid-level predator. Not only will they provide important population controls on prey species, but they are also a food source for higher level predators.

Pest control...or you could look at it that way. They usually eat what humans would consider pests...bugs, mice, etc. The are also food for other predators...meerkats to name one.
