You're kidding right! Talk about salmonella city! You never defrost poultry at room temperature. I suggest you throw that thing away and go buy a fresh, defrosted one to cook.
Note to Hailee - I think by outside she means outside of the fridge, not out on the porch.
Note to Michael - actually the whole chicken would be worse because the cavity of the bird is a prime breeding ground for bacteria. Chicken parts would be less likely to go bad as quickly.
This is why I find it unbelievable that people ask questions here that could can effect your health. You see such idiotic answers from people who haven't a clue. Better to use good old common sense or check with a professional.

Thats how the working mother makes dinner, almost every night! The chicken should be fine for 4-5 days as long as it was in the fridge and kept cold. Just do not refreeze the chicken, that can cause a nasty bacteria to form!

that means that chicken has been defrosting for almost a full day?....i don't think its safe to eat....there is a danger zone when it comes to food and temperature....that is when bacteria is more prone to breed and grow...food should not be allowed to stay in that danger zone too long so harmful bacteria doesn't grow.
there are safe ways to defrost chicken....

Oh, just cook the bejeebus out of it. As long as the internal temp reaches, what 180 degrees? Something like that. Hell, I'd eat it.

You didn't say if it's a whole chicken, packs of parts, etc? Is your house temp hot? It's a close call. If it doesn't smell , make sure you cook it thoroughly. If you're not sure, throw it out.

Depending on what temperature it is, it may e okay. If it's cold outside, it should be fine. However, if there's any weather over 2 degress celcius I wouldn't trust it at all.

If it is a whole chicken still wrapped, it should be OK> But if it is chicken breasts or parts, don't take any chances....throw them out.

Twenty hours???
Absolutely not. It's built up so much bacteira that you or whomever eats it will get sick, and possibly not recover.
