Ok, so reading, writing, spelling, and grammar may not be your favorite subjects, but you need to do what you know you should do and that is: study, study, study. Read the books or at least read the cliff notes to get ideas about their themes and underlying messages. Spelling and grammar just follow rules, so study the rules, and do the homework and it will make the work repetitive and easy when the tests come up. Ask the teacher what you could do to get better grades, maybe they can help you work through what you always get wrong. And unfortunately, tests may build on what you should have learned in the past, so try your best to keep up and review what you have not gotten right on past tests/quizzes.

Talk to your teacher about who has the best grades in the class and have the teacher ask them if they can help you, or ask the teacher if they can offer extra help. The teachers don't like to fail students and if you show that you are willing to work hard to pass the class they are usually willing to help.

talk to your parents... see if they can help you find a tutor. If thst's not an option ask your teacher if you can do a little extra work with them over lunch or after school (I did this in university in economics and my grades went from 60s to 80s, and it was only an hour once a week). A good teacher wouldn't refuse a student asking for extra help. Ask fellow classmates who are wizzes to help you as well, work over lunch or after school.

study, use guides like www.sparknotes.com if you get behind on reading. Do the work on time. Even if its not perfect, some grade is better than no grade and teachers are more likely to let you do something over than let you turn it in late.

I'd ask for extra credit...
Also, check if your school has an English Lab...
my school has one and ites quite helpful!
Try reading more books..it'll help you increase your vocabulary and get rid of grammar mistakes.

When you write essays, make sure you use spell check and grammar check and have someone read your essay before you hand it in!...Also, make sure you reread your essay because sometimes when you read it outloud to yourself, you'll find mistakes all by yourself!

Other than that, pay attention in class...if you don't understand something...raise your hand and ask for help or ask to slow down...chances are theres someone in your class right now who's on the same boat as you..so don't be afraid!

If you still need help after that, feel free to email me at lilyellowstar@gmail.com =)...I'll proofread your essays or answer any questions you have! promise =]
