I cannot give an exact number of years but it will last a very long time, Just keep it well caulked. Go to the hardware store and purchase a protective product to put on your tile flooring. I think it is beautiful when placed properly. The biggest disadvantage wouldl be anything dropping on the floor that is glass or pottery, etc.
I do still very much love hardward myself but requires more work than ceramic tile.

Depends on the type of tiles you get. Generally last
much longer than wood. If you keep some extra tiles you won't be in a panic if someone drops a cast iron skillet on it.
They have some new flooring that looks like tile, it's vinyl.
Well it is tile...vinyl tile. Check it out. Didn't see it at home Depot
when I went to check it out. Found it in one of those fancy tile and flooring stores. The prices were pretty good too.

Tile floor is extremely sturdy. As long as it is mopped about once a week to keep the grout clean it should last years longer than linoleum or wood. Wood can be easily damaged if things are dropped on it. I have been in food service for 20 years and tile is what most places use in the kitchens, where heavy pans are dropped, and rarely do the tiles crack.

You practically have to run ceramic through a grinder to get rid of it. I can crack if heavy objects are dropped on it, but there are tile floors still existing from ancient Roman times.
You'll just have to live a really long time to get your money's worth.:-) We have ceramic tile on our kitchen floor and we love it.

Lets put it this way there are mosaic tiled floors and walls in Italy that are to this day totally and completely boned to their bases and also look as if they were just installed by the Roman craftsmen that tiled them during Nero's rule of Rome.

They can last longer as long as you don't drop any heavy stuff on it. Its good for bathroom.
If you are planning to do hardwood, then use the engineered wood, they are durable, but they aren't good for bathrooms.
