You're not serious, are you? I mean really, you're joking, right?! I have said this in response to more than one of these RIDICULOUS questions, and I'll say it again:
When two divorcing Baptists/Catholics/Episcopalians are ordered by a judge not to teach their son Christianity because it isn't a mainstream religion and it could "damage" him,
When your children are told to take their religious symbols off in public school because they're Satanic,
When soldiers who follow your faith aren't allowed to worship on military bases,
When soldiers widows have to go to court to have religious symbols placed on their graves, only to have the STATE THEY LIVE IN step in because the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REFUSES TO RESPOND TO THEIR REQUEST,
When you have had people make derogatory comments towards you because you have a cross tattooed and some scripture tattooed on your back,
When you have walked a mile in a Wiccan's shoes,
Then we can talk.

We're discriminated against just like every other religion. It's human nature to think ill of those who are different than ourselves. We may be persecuted more than any other religion in certain countries, but we do our fair share of persecuting too. Haven't you seen all the anti-Muslim questions here? And for a long time (and it still continues among some) the Jews recieved a lot of discrimination (and more) from so called Christians, and Muslims.
I think those who are members of the "Big Three" religions (those who share Abraham in common) discriminate, persecute and generally dislike each other equally by a large segment of our respective faiths.
And as a general rule we three tend to think (and I'm grossly generalizing) that those who aren't at least one of us are all heathens anyway. (Not a personal belief, but it is a stereotype held by many).
So I don't think you can say that Christianity is picked on any more or less than any other religion, within or outside of the US.

"Our country was founded on the basic principles of Christianty."
Wrong.
Our founding fathers did not establish this country on principals of Christianity. The fact that most of them were either deists (they didn't believe in a CREATOR god) or agnostics kept them far away from Christianity.
And how is it that Christians are persecuted? It seems that the fundies are getting their way with banning gay marriage, their fight against abortion is pretty vigilant, you have the right to hold office in all states (whereas in many states, it's against the law to hold office if one is an atheist), and the Christian philosophy is creeping into laws that affect everyone, not just Christians.
Tell me again how you're being persecuted?

Actually, our country was founded by well documented NON-Christians. Our country was also founded on the ideals of Freedom of Religion (not just Christianity) and freedom FROM religious Persecution.
I'm sorry that you as a Christian feel victimized, but I really wish that you all would take off your rose colored glasses towards people of your OWN faith, and realize that EVERYONE else in this country is getting crapped on just like you.
We are equal in the fact that both sides of the fence, the believers and non, both have to put up with rude, irrelevant nonsense.
I try my darndest to be happy and kind to all people of all religions, regardless if they're beliefs are different from mine as an Atheist. However, I will not stand idly by while SOME Christians either a) claim they are victimized by EVERYONE in a sweeping, exaggerated generalization; or b) insult me and my beliefs, or anyone else's for that matter, because they differ from yours.
Again, sorry for the few people that have "persecuted" you, but get off the soap box honey. We have all been there.
And if anyone in this country has been persecuted the MOST in recent years, it's the homosexuals, not the Christians.

I'm sorry if that is happening to you. I can only share what I have experienced. People who discriminate against others draw discrimination to themselves. If you are a Christian who discriminates against people of other beliefs, you have your answer.
Most people discriminate as part of everyday life. It takes a bit of effort to get any person out of the habit of discriminating. If you don't put it out, you decrease your chances of getting it back, but you can't entirely avoid discrimination no matter who you are or what you do. The best you can do is to minimize it and not let it hurt you. You can do both of those things by not being judgmental. I think that is supposed to be very much a Christian idea: Judge not...
Along with "Love your enemies" and other good stuff like that.

The very sad truth is, that you only can be discriminated, when you call yourself christian, buddhist or whatever more there exists in this world.
When you divide men-kind in that kind of pieces, the discrimination is born immediately, at the same moment. Think about this very deeply and you will find out, that this is the only truth about this whole sad matter. When you call yourself nothing, with what will others discriminate you???? The whole world is suffering, because men-kind divides itself this very way. It is a very sad story, don't you think? But still, we are all writing it ourselves!!

Because you guys persecute against us and anything else that doesn't fit your beliefs. I'm not being mean, at least I'm not trying to be, I'm just telling you why. Think about it, christians are against gay marriage, abortion, and any other religion that isn't theres. Sure I know not ALL christians are like that, you probably aren't, but to many of them move their beliefs where they're not wanted, like the law. But I don't think christians are discriminated against the most, theirs mormans, jews, muslims, pagans, satanists, all sorts of other religions out there, your not the only one.

I don't think Christians know what the word "persecution" means.
When they kill people for not being Christian, they define it as "converting the wicked".
When people don't like them because they're pompous, arrogant, self-righteous know it alls who think they have all the answers and condemn people to an imaginary eternal torture because they don't believe the same way, they call it persecution. Everyone else calls it "whining".

Christianity is just another religion, and the religious right is ruining it for the rest of you "normal Christians". In the US this is why many are becoming anti-christian. Let the religious right take over and we will be no better than other countries dominated by religion.
This is not what America was based on and it will be the downfall of our country! Look at bush and his decisions based on religious beliefs.

organic lack of expertise. with the aid of fact in case you do no longer have confidence in what they suspect in, you ought to be some style of demon. with the aid of fact they have been taught to "appreciate" others. yet while your ideals do no longer trust theirs, they are going to discriminate you. maximum of those Christians think of that atheists are serial killers or those that purely prefer to wreck others. while surely, you are able to no longer even tell if a individual is an atheist or no longer. i do no longer see why they have a issue with people's ideals, with the aid of fact it does not intrude in a friendship till you're a nun. maximum Christians come right here to declare that we are all undesirable people, while they must take a problematic look at themselves earlier judging us for our very own ideals.
