To REPENT means to turn ones life around. But like they tell those who suffer
from addictions. You're never cured. It's a daily battle till the day we die.
The same with "sin". Spiritual people make the same mistakes everyone else does.
The difference is, we own up to them. And unless it makes things worse, try to
make it right. Making AMENDS.
The worst thing we can do is beat up on ourselves when we make a mistake. And
get angry, and hurt the person again.
Love means never having to say your sorry. That doesn't mean we never do anything
to say we're sorry for. It means those who love us are willing to overlook our
transgressions. If it's hard to say sorry, and sometimes it's best not to. Just do
something nice later to make up for it. Or if nothing else.
LET IT GO!

Clarify as a requirement? repentance is a matter of the heart. The only qualifier is the fruit of the spirit. Has your heart been filled with remorse and then joy? Your question sounds way too Catholic, which if it is, then it negates anything of truth.

I have the answer for you.

[025:068] And those who invoke not any other ilâh (god) along with Allâh, nor kill such person as Allâh has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse – and whoever does this, shall receive the punishment.

[025:069] The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace;

[025:070] Except those who repent and believe (in Islâmic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds; for those, Allâh will change their sins into good deeds, and Allâh is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

[025:071] And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds; then verily, he repents towards Allâh with true repentance.

[025:072] And those who do not bear witness to falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity.

[025:073] And those who, when they are reminded of the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord, fall not deaf and blind thereat.
