In real life I am not a witch. I am a Christian. However, I have studied a lot about all religions and this is my answer:
We have power and energy within us. And there is power within the universe, universal mind, or God, whichever way you want to think of a Higher Power.
A witch does the same thing that a Christian healer does. That is to use the power within one's self and raise the power in the Universe (God) and direct it toward a specific purpose. In order for a spell to work you must have a clear intention, faith that it will work and be able to direct the energy that comes to you.
We have more power in the human mind than we know.
For all of you Harry Potter fans, remember what Voldemort said: "there is no good or evil, only power and those to weak to use it". He is wrong about the first part, but not about the second.
Now Christians here many be upset by what I have just said. To us the power is God's power and I do believe that. But the power can and is used by others of other religions. I don't think God is too concerned by what name people know Him, we are all His children. The important thing is to do all thing in the Spirit of Love.

It's a rarity for this to happen. Usually it's simply pure coincidence. However, if the intended recipient knows of the spell it haunts them continuously and the individual generally causes the spell to come to fruition themselves without knowing. Another way this is possible is if the witch is genuine because they are using satanic powers. These powers are only effective on unbelievers because Satan has no power over believers in Christ Jesus, as the Bible makes quite clear. In fact it is the reverse which is true. The devil can only be defeated by a Christian that is filled with the Holy Spirit, is in obedience to Christ and who is constantly in prayer and regularly studies the Bible. Jesus Himself, when tempted by the devil, set the example by using the Bible against the devil until he left.Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.( Remember that there is no difference between "white" witchcraft and "black"witchcraft, even Anton Levay- founder of Church of Satan- says that.)

When a witch determines a need that s/he cannot fill by personal action, s/he decides to make a spell or a ritual. Spell and ritual design is all about how the 'correspondences' work as symbols for the person using them.
Forces that assist? Dictionary, thesaurus, artist's dictionary.
Witches might make use of elemental powers in some spells, or may evoke chosen deities in certan rituals.....
I'm not sure that this helps you.....

Very simplistically, when you're casting spells you're harnassing/bending energies to bring what you need into your life. This is why you have to be very careful when casting them that they're for the good of all involved, because everything is tied to everything and bending energy has a ripple effect. You're in effect trying to push what you need or want your way - love, money, a new job, protection, health, etc.

Our spirits have telepathic and empathic abilities. We can know each others thoughts, feel each others pain. There are also powerful physical/spiritual/magnetic forces
at work. These are the basis for spiritual/magical abilities.
Jesus wanted us to experience our spirituality first hand. But those who think
they can control spiritual forces, onyt bind themselves more to those things.
Creating retribution for themselves, (bad karma). That will have to be worked out
later with those they use on the material, and on the spiritual planes.
Wicked people use knowledge to control others.
Righteous people use knowledge to gain self-control.

There are other forces at work as well, but it is mainly the focus, intent, visualization, and belief of the one casting the spell.

no, it's the forces behind it. No human has some evil power to make words reality. It's all the demons using them. There was a girl I knew actually, who used to be into witchcraft. She "cast a spell" on her boyfriend for cheating I think. He went sailing and she said some spell that changed the weather. There was a big storm and he got really hurt, almost to the point of dying. It scared her and somehow she got to church and realized what it was all about. Confessed it wasn't her, and that's what was so scary. She saw it for what it was.
