my husband had a vasectomy...had tenderness, some swelling, etc....it is much less risky than a tubal ligation...cheaper, and almost no side effects.

Getting your tubes tied is better extreme priced and tries to opposite it are often no longer useful and they are no longer lined through coverage. Plus that's no longer one thousand% precise. A ectopic being pregnant is conceivable, tho no longer hardship-free. I continuously considered it this way; as we talk you may want to sense as in case you do not elect any better babies, yet what about 3 years from now? What if, you lose a newborn? Or your newborn desires a donor? Or your marriage breaks up and your new SO desperately needs a newborn. All those are unthinkable, i understand, yet they do ensue. Why do some thing so everlasting. BTW, vasectomy's are finished on an outpatient foundation. a million-2-3. lol yet, they do take in to 6 weeks to artwork. After having in hardship-free words one newborn and wanting better...and after gazing my neice bypass via the horrors of infertility and now adoption, i wager i'm hostile to at least some thing so everlasting. yet, that's no longer as a lot as us; that's as a lot as each and every couple to go back to a call what's ultimate for them. Edit: getting your tubes tied isn't incredibly reveresed and no matter if that's reversed, it in hardship-free words works a small percentage of the time. Plus that's $$ and by no skill lined through coverage.

you asked for experience, so i'm giving you my experience mixed with my friend's b/c we were just talking about this yesterday!
i just had my first baby (1 of 2) and i will be getting the mirena IUD. it lasts up to 5 years and is even more effective than a tubal or vasectomy. i like it b/c it is reversible and when we try for another baby my dr just takes it out and we wait a month and start trying!
there are a few side effects, but as a woman in a monogamous relationhip with already one child my dr HIGHLY recommended this birth control to me (he is unbiased b/c he doesn't get anything from mirena).
now, i was telling my friend about this and she suddenly got upset and said, "i know! i wish someone had told me about an IUD.." she had her tubes tied when she had her third child. she regrets her tubal and feels like she altered her body. she feels like she changed her body's purpose somehow...it was hard for her to describe, but i hope you can understand, too, what i understood. she just felt like she messed with mother nature.
now, my brother-in-law got a vasectomy and i've never heard of them having any issues....many women i know had their husbands get the vasectomy. the procedure is much easier on a guy than a woman, as far as actual procedure and recovery time. the emotional part is individual.
so, that's my experience.
also, the Mirena IUD can be a bit pricey, as many IUDs are, however, they have a website that can help you get approval from your insurance company, plus, it's only a fee every 5 years...so, if you break it down it's better than many options.
take care!

There is a new tubal ligation out where they insert plastic device into your fallopian tubes so skin will grow over (there is not surgury involved)so if you want to have more children you can just have this skin removed, vasectomies are done by laser now so there is no surgury there either. I am 26 with three children too and I made my husband gert a vasectomy because I was sure i was done having children.

yes it is better for the man cheaper and easier. A woman getting her tubes tied is a real surgery( you have to get put to sleep and a tube down your throat and all that..) A man only has a in out thing and soreness for a wile and that is it. (I personally don't have experience but I am a nursing student and I am going for labor and delivery. So I have to know this kind of stuff)

It was easy having my tube tied. I have my tube tied, right after I gave birth to her that was 5 1/2 years ago.

do the man.
Its infinitly safer, reversable, its outpatient, cheaper, and better in the long run.
Getting your tubes tide can cause serious comlications, costs more, and you're in the hospital three times as long for recovery. Plus reversing it is near impossible.
Your husband goes in, they dont even knock him out all the way, make a tiny cut, make some sutchers, and send him home with pain killers and instructions not to lift anything for two weeks.
much MUCH better idea.

My husband had it done. It was a quick 30 minute procedure. It took a few days for him to get back to normal, but he says he'd do it again in a heartbeat. Guys recover quicker than females do.
