I am 32. I have been to church all my life but my family did it out of more how it looked to the community. I have lost a lot since becoming an adult. I was married when i was 18, but that ended in divorce due to severe verbal and physical abuse. I left after 9 years of it. I took with me my beautiful daughter. I am remarried now to a wonderful man. He said that he was a devout Christian when we first met. He has not been to church or opened a bible in the 3 years we have been together. I am so wanting God in my life but have no way to get to a church. I was told that i did not have to go to church to have God in my life. My husband says that i am way beyond help of God. I have 3 tattoos, am a recovering alcoholic. I so want to study the word of God and have him in my life. Is there anyone out there that can help put me on the right path?

You are not beyond the help of God and shame on him for saying that to you! If you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and you believe in him and that he died for you and for the forgiveness of sin, you will be saved. It really is as simple as that. Forget about the past and live the rest of your life in a righteous fashion. God Bless!

Looks like you got lot's of great answers, so I don't really need to answer your question. Instead, let me be the first to say... "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!" Baby!!
Yup if you've read the other posts, I'm sure that the Angels are celebrating in heaven over the "birth" of a brand new baby Christian!! As a newborn,(you are born once of water, now of spirit), Your eyes will take awhile to learn to focus on spiritual things, you'll take awhile getting the walking thing down, you don't even know the language! The 2 most important things are #1. Drink the milk of the word of God.and #2, Find some elders and other Christians,to help look after your spiritual growth. Don't get discouraged, just remember, you are a precious child of the King. a prince/princess, and HE ADORES YOU!! God Bless you Baby!! I'll pray for you!!

By the way, my first thought was to tell you that you are a very intellegent person, this is a very well-formulated question!!

All you have to do is believe that Jesus is God's son, who was sent to earth to live a life without sin, that He is the only human with the ability to do this. That He willingly gave his life to pay the penalty of sin for everyone who has ever lived, who now lives, and who will live. You must believe that he died and was resurrected after three days and because of this resurrection, you have eternal life if you believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord.

NO ONE is beyond the help of God, because He is infinite and omnipotent. No spiritual Christian would ever tell ANYONE what your husband has told you. We are all sinners who continually fall short of the mark.

It is true that you don't have to go to church to have God in your life, because God is much bigger than the four walls of ANY church. It does help, however, to have positive people who can help encourage you in your journey with God

My advice to you is this: Find the nearest phone book and call a church. Any Christian church. Most churches will arrange to have someone to transport you back and forth. If your husband is the Christian that he says he is, he will not have a problem with this and maybe even accompany you. If he's not, you may need to make a decision to figure out what's more important....your eternal soul, or a man. It's definitely your choice.

To get saved is to give your life to Christ. Its quite simple really, just believe and trust him.

First is to invite him in, speak to him and be yourself with him. Your relationship with the Lord Jesus is a personal thing and is between you and him. When you ask for him to come and be the saviour of your life then you have been saved. All you do is confess that he is Lord, believe and look to follow and do his ways. Remembering to keep praying and let him be your friend and your master.

Do you have a church around you that you could attend service there? If you prefer start gradually with an evening service with less people and the sermons are more detailed (depending on the Church). Enquire about a bible study class or group which you could attend, this will help get to discuss the bible and help with understanding what a Great God we have.

I am sure you will find inner peace when you begin to experience the Lord in your life. Remember whatever our experiences are and were, believing that the Lord's strength is yours, will overcome anything.

Here is a website which provides all types of christian information: www.ucb.co.uk
Sign up for 'The Word For Today' which is a booklet sent to you for free, which is a daily digest of the bible. I find that so helpful.

1st you have to start praying to God daily (or nightly) so that your future decision to join a church will be guided and blessed by the Holy Spirit.

Ask that God will guide you to the right church of the right religion.

When you do finally choose the religion and the church you feel is the right one, talk to any pastor, priest, or other clergyman that is available and ask him what you need to do to be initiated into the church.

Depending on the religion, you will have to participate in several sacraments or other practices that show your loyalty and faith in God and in the church you have chosen.

Most Christian churches will have you baptized before you do anything, and also train you to receive 1st Communion if you have never done these 2 rituals before.

The Catholic Church, which is the church I am planning on rejoining, has what are called the Sacraments of Initiation, i.e. Baptism, 1st Communion, and Confirmation, and you must receive Communion weekly to remain a member of the church.

No matter what, you must keep praying to God for guidance, even for many years without an answer, and your faith in Him will be rewarded.

Also, regardless of what religion or denomination you choose to be a part of, you must read the Bible often, if not daily.

It is God's Word, so read it carefully and thoroughly and you will find all of the answers you are currently looking for and a lot more.

I will pray for you as well, and God bless you.

Just say out loud, Lord Jesus, I know that you died on the cross for my sins, and came back to life for me, I know that I'm a sinner, please forgive my sins, and come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior.......Amen see in the bible Romans 10:9 & 10. and John 1:14, and 1John 5:9 thru 12

That's all it takes to get saved nothing else but to read in the bible everyday and confess your sins that you will still be committing even after you ask Jesus to save you. see in the bible 1 John 1:9 and 1 John 2:1 & 2.

Read every day in the gospels, the new testament and then for daily living start reading in the epistles that's in the new testament, Romans, Galatians, Ephesians, James, 1 & 2 Peter
Titus, 1 & 2 Timothy 1 John and 1 & 2 Corinthians. These epistles especially 1 John, James, 1& 2 Peter and Ephesians are the basis of the christian life for everyday living and spiritual growth.

God Bless you and keep you.

First of all, there is no such thing as being "way beyond the help of God". Most of the books in the new testament are written by Paul, who was a Roman citizen (then named Saul) who formerly devoted his life to persecuting those who followed the teachings of Christ (not yet recorded as being called "Christians"). My point: Saul (/Paul) killed those who followed Christ and still he found redemption and is (debatably by some people) considered an apostle of Jesus Christ. So can you.

If you call a local Christian church, I'm sure that they and you would find some way for you to get to a church service (or just to talk with a pastor or counselor) - perhaps even to a weekly bible study. You can have God in your life without church, but it would be unfortunate for you to miss the opportunities (and for the church to miss the opportunities you could provide - sharing your story, etc.) at your local church.

I suggest www.biblegateway.com to read the word for free online. I also suggest that you talk to your husband about how he feels about returning to church. He might be experiencing a lot of (perhaps unecessary) guilt for abandoning his faith. Your entire family is going to change - I suggest talking about it as often as you can each endure.

It does not matter what you have on your body or what you have done. Just ask Jesus Christ into your heart and accept he died to save you from your sins, any of your sins whatever you have done or will do he will forgive you! I know it is hard you just have to surrender to the Lord. My mom believed nothing in God and she has tattos also and been divorced and had a hard life(thus the reason for not believing) she turned around accepted, believed and has Faith. You do not need to go to church, to walk w/ the Lord. He loves u no matter what, you ask he forgives, you are never beyond God, he loves us even when we tend to ignore him. I wish you best, and may God come to you and enlighten you! You want God so desperatly in your life because we were made to have him w/ us. We are not born with him due to original sin, so we must seek him out and take him upon us. He is knocking on the door to your heart let him in and surrender to his Love. He will send his Holy Spirit to you and that will guide you! God Bless You

No one is beyond the help of God. God can also be found anywhere, not just in church. If you want to know God, look around you. Read the Bible, perhaps find friends or neighbors who will discuss it with you, or seek an online study group.

Your husband is incorrect. I haven't heard of a problem that God can't help. After all that you've been through and you're still here seeking God is a testimony within itself. God loves you and he is overjoyed that you want to return to Him. A show that I listen to is "Unshackeld". It chronicles the lives of the lost (I see parts of myself in most of the people) and how they are now found. Please listen to it. It offers great examples of how God can change anyones life for the better. Congradulations on your return home. God Bless you. My prayers are with you.

Just click on one of the archives and pick a story. So many people have your same story or have done much worse and have found their way back to Jesus.
