I'm not a hairdresser but I've dyed my own hair for about 14 years now. And I've used hair dye that is over a year old. It worked just like if I'd just bought it from the store. I would only be leery or concerned if it were several years old. Good luck... I'm sure it will turn out beautiful! Have a wonderful day!

Take this from a hair dye addict...dont use it. Whether or not its unopened doesn't really matter. The fact is that its been sitting for over a year (including its days on the shelf). The chemicals most likely have settled, which causes the color to turn. Be safe and save yourself the trouble of having to strip your hair and just buy a new bottle.

There should be an expiration date on the box. If not, it might be safe, but most hair dye contains peroxide and the strength will be reduced the longer it sits. I would buy another bottle.

I'm a professional cosmetologist. I've done hair for ten years now. If the bottles haven't been opened and they are still sealed, the color will be okay. If the seal has been broken, don't use it, the color may have oxidized.

Is there an experation date? Think about it this way... would you rather accidentaly color your hair purple, or buy a new bottle, just to be safe??

Call the manufacturer. They will tell you. There is usually a number on the box.
