it's nothing to worry about, really. A lot of children get nose bleeds, . There's just this cartilage in the nose that's thinner for some children, get's bruised easily and causes the bleeding. You just have to make the child sit or lie down, keep an icecube wrapped in cloth or a cold, wet peice of cloth on his nostril and keep him stll for a few seconds, probably also try pinching the upper tip of his nose, [below the center of the eyebrows] for a few seconds. a nose bleed is also absolutely painless.

Some people like me just have a predisposition for getting nosebleeds often. It's usually do to dry air/ dry nasal mucosa. I wake up with them a lot so at night i moisten up the area with a little vaseline. It usually helps. Now I'm not sure how old your son is but as he is a kid you have to have some extra considerations like a possible bleeding disorder. So questions to think about before you go to the doctor. Any family history of bleeding disorder? Does he bruise easily? Does he bruise/bleed into large joints or in areas like the buttocks? Does he bleed after brushing his teeth. The worst case scenario (and also least likely) is a leukemia but even those are treatable nowadays. Good luck

Could be anything from allergies to his nose not liking cold weather to low platelet count. You definitely have the right idea in taking him in and letting the doc work it out. Good luck.
