No it is brown.

The beavers tail is flat, and paddle-shaped. An adult may have a tail a foot long and 8 inches wide at its widest point. It is about an inch thick through the middle, and is a leathery, hairless, greyish brown to near black overall.

they are not brown not in my experence they are black and covered with a tough allmost scaly skin they are wide and flat use them in dam making and can make a loud slap on the water with them to sound alarm
